Ok guys i put new bars and grips on and the first ride i got the code 81, I know i need to wire a 7 ohmn resister in line with the handwarmer wire, My question is..do i need to wire a 7 ohmn resister into each of the handwarmers (i.e. 2..one for each side) or do i wire one resister into one of the wandwarmer wires and that takes care of the problem Thanks

couldnt find a 7 ohmn resister, so i got a 10 ohmn 1watt resister,,i wired one to each warmer and the resister got so hot it burned my finger and there was no heat in the grips. The grips i have on i got on ebay and the description said they were off on 07 phazer gt. Next step is to run them on low (2 bars) and see if the computer still throws a code 81.

Sounds like the grips are no good. I would ring them out and see if they are burned up. Use an meter and check the resistance of each grip. A 1 watt resistor will not cut it (obviously), you'd need a 10 watt if I remember correctly. Besides that I don't understand why you would need to use anything if the bars are from the same make sled. The 07' and 08's I believe are interchangeable.

I ohmned the grips and their 2.1 ohmns...that is what 07 GT grips are suppose to be. FX grips are 7.5 ohmns. Took out the resisters and the grips still work, so until I can find a 5 ohmn 10 watt resister (to match the stock resistance) im gonna see if running them on the low setting will not make the computer trip the 81 code
