I tried to do a search on this subject but came up with nothing. I don't know if I am using the search option correct.
Anyway, I have an 03 rx1 and my buddy has an 07 venture, they are both carborated models. We live in an area where -30 degrees celcius is common in the winter. Both machines are very hard to start when it is cold like this. They will crank over like crazy but they will not fire. Yesterday it warmed up to -24 and my rx1 wouldn't start. I cranked over good but wouldn't fire. I took a hair dryer and put it on high and pointed towards the carbs and closed the hood and left. I came back 15 minutes later and it stared. Is this a common problem with the carborater models. Would the in line block heater fix this problem.

yes the block heater would fix most of this. you could also pour hot water over the carbs to start it if there is no electricity. read that on here way back when i was looking a buying a 4 stroke as i spend time at camp in the winter without hydro.

Thanks, I have heard of guys pouring hot water over the carbs before, but for some reason, to me, that dosen't sound like a thing to do in extreme cold, but if it works, it's a lot better than walking.
Do the inline heaters have blades to circulate the watter or does the difference in temperature of the water just do the circulating. Also where is the best place to install them.

They don't circulate the water. Just install it as low as you can and the heat will rise up and warm it all up.
