The Wife and I have Collett Sno fones and they work great. I will say this though, I think we like them because we both have BVS helmets and the mic is built right into the mouth piece. There is no adjustments to make and talking into the mic is very easy and the sound comes out very clear. We really like them but I think if we had traditional helmets with the exterior microphones they would be very hard to use and still keep the wind out of your helmet. Also I don't see a problem with the range. They have plenty of range to keep in contact with your riding group. There could be worse problems if the range was too far. Then you would be hearing others conversations and interference and would be forced to change to a differnt chanel or club channel. We like to stay on the general chanel because many times it lets us know when other groups are coming and sometimes we can converse with groups near us. If the range was too far we wouldn't be able to do this because there would be way too much interference.

I"ve tried all kinds of communicators. They all tended to suck. Currently, we all use 5 watt GMRS radios with Firefox throat mics and earbuds. Several in our group have fitted the earbuds with custom earmolds (almost any audiologist can make those for you for about $15/pair. Several of us use Garmin Rino 520/530's, so we have GPS built in, as well as position updating on the GPS map for all of the Rino users-not only tells me where I am, but where each of them is too, and provides navigation to any of them.
I've never seen a VOX setup that would work reliably on a snowmobile - the Firefox units have a push-to-talk switch that runs down the sleeve and velcroes to the left index finger so you can push it with your thumb.

Could not agree more. People tell me that my voice picked up by the mic in the BV mouth piece is always much more clear and very easy to understand
