Considering Simmons CPR apex

AJ,
Yeah, the bar was set last year. Been talking all season about the next shootout... Looking forward to seeing you guys again. I see OF got some snow.

It might have just been a batch of bad sensors, hadn't seen a programmer go bad until those handful.

Hi guys,
I don't want to alarm all of you with Dobeck box's, but their's been many failure's. I've always had 30lb unit's and was led to believe that was the problem, that is those 30lb sensors, were unreliable. I know one of the turbo kit suppliers got a shipment and most all were bad. I'm not knocking the Dobeck units but the fact they wanted us to go to 15lb sensors for reliability takes me out, I need 30 lb capability.
That led me to my current project. I'm in the process of developing a Stand-A-Lone Fuel injection and ignition system for our race sled that I plan on marketing when the R+D is completed. The unit is made by Electromotive Inc. They have been leaders in ignition systems for 25 years, something I found to be a problem with my Apex when I tried to go over 20+lbs boost. Things are moving along nicely, been on the dyno for month's, need some snow now for field testing. :flag:

Honestly I don't have plans of going over 16-18lbs boost, hopefully the box I have holds up, If not, I am interested in what you have or powderlites got the RB3, please keep us posted??

With the right fuel I could go to 24-26 lbs, and as long as I got the right fueling I might do so!!!

Morey, This year will be good, same set up, seemed to work well, but if any body can give viable advice I am open to it, either way we are doing it again, Hopefully we can get everybody to the same place after the race!!! It was a blast anyway. Some fast asz sleds.

Twin Turbo,
Thanks for the feedback and info. I haven't used a 30 lb unit, but I agree with AJ and need the ability to get 16-18 reliably.
If the Dobeck's come with a 15 lb MAP, does it stop sensing anything additional past 15 and just flat line? That has me scared already...
I have a disappointed feeling that a RB3 is overkill and out of my price range for my trail sled because and all I need to do is control the injector BPW.
Any alternatives or suggestions, I am all ears.

AJ, I have a feeling it will be bigger this year for sure and we'll see some boosted SkiDoo's as well.

mbarryracing,
Agian I only used 30lb units but I was told that the 15lb units can be pushed a little. I'm sure you can go to 16 and maybe 18. If you have a wide band O2, even if it flat lines as you said, You should be able to just run it rich for 15 or 16 and get enough fuel for 18. Turn the blue green all the way up and go up slow. My understanding is you should not hurt the 15lb map if you go over alittle bit. The boxes can be programed to give more fuel even if they flatline at 15lb. They are very programable units. I was amazed when I started doing my own programing how much was there that you would never know about. Talk to the guy you bought it from and see if he can help. Some maps are locked and someone like myself could not reprogram anothers unit. :flag:

Twin Turbo, thanks.
I know they are great boxes, I've watched Justin Fuller do some amazing things with his controllers. I just like to be aware of what else is out there and what the reliability is when I eventually go for bigger boost. :rocks:

I see Ulmers PCIII can add on a GM 3bar sensor. That sensor has plenty of capacity at 43 lbs...
