coolant change in 06 attak

im going to change the 100% coolant in my attak with something more reasonable, like a 50/50 or 60/40 ratio mixture. since my riding will be in the u.p. of michigan, is the 50/50 mix ok, or should i go 60/40. this sled has had an overheating problem in the past. im also going to try the water wetter and my question is this: does the bottle of water wetter replace the same ammount of water, coolant, or the 50/50 mix? ive thought about the additional heat exchanger, but as my track is studded, im going to try this route and see how it works before i try the extra heat exchanger. thanks

I used the entire bottle of Water Wetter along with enough distilled water to dillute down to 60/40.

60/40 would be the way to go. That's what I took my '06 Attak to, and all the overheating issues went away.

If you use distilled water you need to add some corrosion inhibitor as well. Most newer anti-freeze has it in there, just double check and make sure.

Go with the 60/40 mixture (antifreeze/water) and follow the directions on the bottle of water wetter. The water wetter is what the name implies, a wetting agent. It reduces the surface tension of the water allowing it to "wet" to the metal surfaces. Only a small amount of water wetter is needed, using more than the reccomended amount has NO additional benefit. The 60/40 or 50/50 coolant to water mixture is a MUCH better coolant than pure antifreeze. Water with the wetting agent is about the best coolant you can get (I design cooling systems for supercomputers that use between 3 and 10 megawatts of power). The antifreeze is a necessary component that actually has a much lower heat capacity and thermal conductivity than pure water. The difference in the performance of the cooling system usingthe 60/40 mix compared to 100% antifreeze is HUGE. Use distilled water or deionized water only.
