Coolant temp guage

I would like to put a temp guage on my apex but I am wondering where to get 12 volt power from. I can’t hook to the battery or booster cables because they have power all the time and it would kill my battery. Can anyone help?

i picked up a digital temp gauge from summit racing. 2in diameter. take a hole saw and bore a 2in hole in your pad middle of handle bars(take off first,watch your fingers). wire into your fus box on fused side of headlight fuse(run sled w fuse out first= use the terminal that has no power w fuse out) strip wire and wrap around fused side of fuse and reinstall. the hose adapter cam get off amazon with a 1/8 in npt threads for temp sensor. i think its 26mm. search this forum for digital temp gauge and should see how it turns out(thats where i got the idea)

also most sensors need to be grounded . will have to run a ground from frame to the little screw on the sensor adapter or the gauge will always read LO........(note it will read LO for a cpl minutes while sled gets up to about 75deg. then will show temps)

I have a full kit with metal pipe and sensor and wires I just didn’t know where to steal power from.
