Does anyone have an 07 yamaha attak manual or link to download it? Also I was checking my coolant and its almost like an oil based coolant? It doesn't seem or feel like antifreeze at all. What does this call for or what kind of coolant? I am pretty new to these 4 strokes. What is the 2nd container for. Its got a tube back to the coolant container. Is it an over fill or something?
Thanks

YAM'S coolant is nearly PURE antifreeze, meaning its not diluted to a 60/40 ratio like most of the industry reccomends doing, drain 1.5L and replace it with DISTILLED water and re-test after your 1st ride once she's cools down, you should be fine, for that so called 2nd tank its your overflow/boil over reservoir that should be at the COLD mark when your motor has cooled down over night, its a buffer tank that keeps levels to proper operating levels, when coolant warms up it expands and needs room to overflow and when it cools downs it sucks/syphons it back into cooling system...

I hope this makes sense to you.

Here's the link to a APEX manual that you can download.

Good luck

Thanks for the link to the manual. I got my sled tore down tonight, checking everything. It had NGK CRN9EB in its. I am guessing that is the stock plug it came with since the sled only has 1400 miles on it? I am going to put the CR10EK's in it since thats what people are recommending on here. I am learning a lot about it just buy breaking it down and see how things work. Is there an easy way to drain the antifreeze? Should I buy yamaha coolant for it or are there any aftermarket suggestions? I had bought some 50/50 but I am guessing that isn't going to work in this sled. I also got the silverstar lightbulb upgrade to put into and going to shim it up as recommended.

Once you drain the 1.5L or so just replace it with the same amount of DISTILLED water and you'll be fine, don't forget to re-test after a good warm up or 2, you want to make sure its mixed properly.

I hope your right. I called a yamaha dealer and they told me it should look just like regular car antifreeze 50/50 mix. Mine is dark charcoal in color with almost an oil consistency. The oil in the oil tank looks fine, and the sled is like new. I just think its odd. I am going to drain it all and put 50/50 back in it.

It does have a fairly dark greenish color...I'll check to see if I still have some that I drained out of mine last time and post a pic of it.

Whats the easiest way to drain and refill? I was reading on the manual that you drain it from the back of the sled by the heat exchangers and also drain the tube from the bottom of the thermostat? Whats the trick when I refill to get all the air bubbles out to prevent over heating?

Unscrew the 10 millimeter bolt in the rear of your sled on the crosstube. The one you will use to let off air from the coolant system. Remove bolt and let drain a bit. Fill up with premixed coolant until you got the correct mix. You could use a meter to check what temp your coolant will take before it freezes over. If the coldest your sled will ever encounter is -40F then the mix should hold a bit lower than -40F. No need for a -40 mix if -20 is the coldest your sled will ever encounter during winter. The more water in the mix the better the cooling capasity is.

No one has addressed this yet, why is the coolant this color??? Regardless why, drain all that outta there!, it should be green!

The way to drain it that gets alot of coolant out is to pull the hoses coming out of the thermostat and the hoses out of the heat exchangers. The attak has over 6L of coolant, like 6.8L or something, it says in the manual. Your plan to get premixed is a good one, maybe just add some pure antifreeze in to bump up the ratio. Also, most meters dont go above 50/50, not any that I seen at various car parts stores, so some simple math goes a long way.

Drain it and replace the coolant with 50/50 and you're good to go

I just drained the coolant. The coolant looked just find out of the motor. I am not sure why there was so much junk in the coolant reservoir. I got it all drained getting ready to put it back in. I took my air compressor and GENTLY blew through the back of the bleeder valve to get all the junk out of it. Just got it her back together to add fluid and bleed her. How high does the rear end need to be up in the air to get the air out?

As long as its higher than your reservoir, you want any air thats trapped to make its way out the back bleeder...

Do you take the back bleeder out or just loosen it to let the air out of it?

I took the bleeder bolt out today before raising up the rear end. Thats a big no no. You should of seen me trying to get the bolt back in while the antifreeze I just put in twas pouring out. Rookie lesson for sure! Just got the oil filter off and nearly got this thing serviced for the year and ready to roll!
