We got back from Michigan yesterday morning and I managed to break my right rear wheel and the other one is cracked and will need to be replaced. Does anyone have any insight on why these both would have failed? These are the rear wheels at the rear of the sled behind the hy-fax.

It seems wierd that they would have both failed on the same trip! Would this be a defect or did I do something wrong? Track to tight? Just one of those things? It's in your court now.

If you take a look at my post about 3 weeks ago after the TY Ride, you'll see that I did the exact same thing. And everybody said that they had never seen it.

It caused a lot of damage. Brand new track. Shot :o| Brand new stud job. Shot. :o| Had to restud a new track. It also took out the tensioners and the control rods.

Sorry to say is that we both experienced a weird scenario. Hopefully yours didn't do as much damage.

Mine didn't cause that much damage. I think we caught it just in the nick of time. The "fun" thing was that we were about 40 miles away from anything! We ended up doing a "McGuiver" to get it back to the truck and trailer. We had to borrow a wheel from the center to use out on the outside. The other one that was cracked held up until we got back to the truck.

Another sad thing about this is that not ONE person stopped to see if we needed a hand. They all just kept flying by. I think it was obivious when there is a sled all tore apart out in the middle of nowhere. I make it a habit to stop to make sure someone is ok while I'm out riding. It must be the Good Samartian in me I guess.

I hope others make this a practice also out there!? ;)!

Yeah, I lost the rear right, track ratcheted, tore up all the drive lugs on 200 mile old ripsaw. Then proceeded to the rest.

Had to be towed. I could not have cobbled mine together as it was actually the shaft right at the tensioner that sheared in half. No fix for that.

You're right though consideration wise. We had a sled with the hood up last weekend and people were actually trying to kick snow on us as they ripped by.

Fun thing was.....got going and the guy that got us the worst was parked up ahead. 3 out of 4 in our group made special effort to return the favor.
