Cracked oil tank...

I was riding yesterday with our trailmaster who has an 07 Vector. We were sitting waiting for the rest of the group to catch up and I noticed oil dripping from his sled. We took the side panel off to find the oil tank had a hairline crack in it about 3/4 of an inch long and the oil was seeping through it. Not sure if this is common or not but I figured it was worth mentioning. Again this was on an 07 Vector with about 5,000 miles on it.

i had a hairline crack in mine also...3/4" long. dumb thing is i had put bout 70 miles on this year-easy miles and didnt hit anything or any real hard landings and brought it bakc into the garage after the ride...3 days later i noticed the oil leak from the right side and i tore the panel off and noticed the crack...talk bout weird. oh my sled has around 7300mi on it

so this seems to affect RS & Nytro models....Anyone know of problems with RX-1's or Warriors? Seems fairly reasonable since it's the same oil resevoir, if I'm not mistaken?

yes its the same tank...actually i bought a used tank from a brand new attak that was gettin a super charger put on it

This just happened to me!! Sled has 2200 miles on it. I'm going to the Gaspe in 2 days and brought sled in garage to lube it and check everything out. Hairline crack near lower mounting bolt. I am not happy. My sled warrenty runs out in 4 days so glad I caught it. Going to try to get it welded somehow...it only has to last 5 days and 1100 miles. My dealer is great but I'm sure they don't have a oil tank in stock.

tell ur dealer to take one off a sled thats there...do not run wiht a cracked oil tank that is welded cuz the metal is too thin and it will likely crack again

I just replaced my oil tank also. 3000 miles on the sled. Those tanks aren't cheap either. My dealer said he has done 4 of them this year.

Dealer took one off a new sled to give to me! Great dealer, Wheel-a-way in Fulton, NY. I highly recommend them!
