  Well boy i knew this was gonna happen. Just replaced my HYFAX after burning them up at OTISRX's get together on sunday and i noticed a hairline crack on my front arm in my rear suspension. This always happened with my POLARIS's but they only had 2 mounting points. What is the best way to remove the PRO ACTION SKID? Start at the rear and work forward? Do i have to do anything with the rear shock so it doesn't spring on me?Thanx Chris.

Read the track change for RX1 on the Totally Yamaha forum..it's also in here somewhere..I wrote a little method and included a blurb on the way I removed my rear suspension. Check it out, but mine came out and went in super easy. I believe I loosened the track fully, loosened the transfer rod bolts, and this frees up the susp. Then remove the bolts rear to front. Reverse for install.

Thanks.
But I'm really an orphaned ski doo guy...lol. I wish their attempt was better than a v twin harley-on-snow wannabe. These are my first Yamaha's, and regardless of the bashing they get, someone was up burning the midnight oil dreaming these things up, imo.
If you need any other info or help, I'll try, but I'm no Yammy expert.

Rodder, won't the dealer replace it under warranty? Mine cracked on both sides and I had a new one put in this past fall. This is definitely a high fail item on Yamahas. Basically the same part on the RX-1, Viper and SRX and they've all cracked

You guys are doing something wrong. I ride about 4,000 miles a year. I had a 98, and 00SRX, a viper for about 5,000 miles, and now an 03RX1with 2,500, and haven't ever broken a suspension part.

I think the trick is to have the suspension adjusted so the front arm rarely bottoms...
I beat up on mine pretty good on Tug Hill, and they are fine, so far. The last front arm I broke was on a Machz, after adding the ETS kit and adjusting to their specs, as in leaving the front strap long. It lasted two miles, and one big bump. The straps stretched letting the shock bottom, and that's all it took. Keep the front arms off the stops, or extending too far, and I think they will last.
