Hey All,

I am researching Curves as an option to bolt under my sled. However, almost all the reviews I have found are either Nytro guys, or first impression type reviews. I was wondering if anyone has been rocking these for a while under an Apex and has some feedback. Here are some of the more informative reviews I found in the 13 pages of search results for "curve" in this subforum:

I had the Curve skis on my 07 Attak GT that I recently sold. I really liked them. So much that I took them of the sled and will put them on my 11 Apex XTX. They are wider which helps with floatation. They are a very positive steering ski also. I did get a slight amount of darting, but Curve now as a leading edge piece that is suposed to eliminate darting. I have the leading edge part on order and the skis will be on my 11 for my Michigan trip in a couple of weeks. In addition, they are one of the nicest looking skis out there.

I had aset on 08 nytro and put them on a 09 apex gt . They handle great a little hard at first to turn but adjusted a little and they are great. You can't go wrong with the guys at curve will help anyway they can .

CURVE XS'S!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm gettin old and the sled is just gettin faster, just like Sean said. Keep the fox floats low pressure, or the arms level when you sit on it and just freakin paste it..it WILL go where you want with no darting. Awesome skis. Love em. Wish I could get tires for my car as good......lol.

I also have a 2007 Apex GT, and have tried C&A Razors, Slydog Powderhounds, and Curve skis. I like the Curve skis the best for overall conditions. The Slydog powderhounds were better for flotation in deep snow. The C&A Razors, and the Curve skis, were better for other conditions, however the Curve skis were easier to turn, so that is why I give the edge to the Curve skis. Actually the stock skis with Woodys Dual carbides also work good, but you lose some top end speed. Hope this helps.

Yesterday, a buddy of mine and I took a ride on Tug Hill. Temps were around 0 degrees, with a nice, firm base and some loose snow on top. My initial impressions of the Curve XS skis...

1.) There is absolutely no darting whatsoever. I have put 18,000+ miles on stock Yamaha skis on my '02 SXR600, '04 RX-1 and my '06 Apex. I have grown used to darting and skittish behavior from those skis in straight-line riding. Those issues are gone. On a straight trail, just sit and hang on. No correction needed.

2. You can't pussyfoot with these skis. Again, with thousands of miles on Yamaha stock skis, I have become accustomed to constantly correcting, and being tentative in turns. I am used to the factory skis sliding at first, then quickly grabbing and turning harder than expected, causing ski lift. Naturally, I have learned to let off the throttle in turns to get the factory skis to grab the snow. Used to doing this, I continue this practice with the Curves. They acted much like the Yamaha factory skis when doing so.

As I grew more confident in the skis, I started accelerating in turns. My Apex did something it has never done before when gassing it in the bends...it turned. And the steering was linear! The harder I cranked the handlebars, the more it turned...no sliding, no grabbing, no twitchiness...the damn sled just turned PREDICTABLY.

I let my buddy with a 2008 Nytro and stock skis ride my sled. He described the handling as "awesome" and it was so smooth in the turns it was "like butter". He beat me in a race again, but that's another story.

On the way back to trailer, I kept riding the Apex harder and harder...and I am not an aggressive rider most of the time like a lot of you guys are! It didnt seem to phaze the skis and sled at all. It was like "come on...is that the most you can do?" Usually, I dont go much more than 45 mph in the turns. When I glanced down at the speedo it always somewhere between 55 and 60 and I had total confidence and great grip at these speeds. I left my buddy and his Nytro RTX is the dust, and he even said he just couldn't keep up.

Bottom line - if darting is an issue, it wont be with the Curve XS skis.

-if you get these skis, they will handle just like the Yamaha factory skis if you pussyfoot and let off the throttle in the turns.

-if you ride aggressively, these skis are just awesome and inspire a tremendous amount of confidence.

-No, I am not a paid sponsor for Curve skis! I paid $460 for them at the Big East show back in October!

Not sure how many more positive reviews you are looking for, LOL. My brother has been running them for about 4-5 years now. On a polaris dragon....big improvement, especially off trail. On his 2011 Apex xtx....big improvement, on and off trail. Can't really tell you if the steering effort was increased on the XTX because of EPS. Gotta love it. I have the tripple threats on my 07 attak, and also love those. If you are on the fence about the curves, I would go for it.JMO

I also did a Google search before I purchased mine, seen lots of positive reviews from Doo, Poo and A/C riders as well and those were enough for me.

Great ski's and great guy's to deal with! ;)!

3 seasons on my war and i still love how they make my sled handle.

Replaced stock skis (dual 8" carbides) with Curves (6" carbides). I love how the Curves float and how progressive they turn (gives you tons of confidence in corners).

I have the curves and have not been overly impressed with them. Compared to the c&a razors I had before I don't think they are worth the extra $175 jmo

Alignment/toe in/out is very important with any ski so I would double check yours before you write off the Curves. JMO

Yup all that is done per instructions from curve not saying they are bad skis at all just saying i don't think they are worth the big jump in money. I will add though that they are the nicest looking ski on the market though

RTX:

How would you rate the Razors and Curves using an A-D letter grade?

Curve XS
• Floatation:
• Bite:
• Darting:
• Steering Effort:

C&A Razors
• Floatation:

• Darting:
• Steering Effort:

any aftermarket ski is going to be better than oem, i have curves on my apex and while i havn't put any miles on them yet they get the a1 grade for looks.
as for priceing mine were less than 500 all in for ski's loops bides and mounting kits and our awesome HST, factory stuff was almost the same price by the time i put snow trackers or slim jims on them and i was getting tired of fighting the sled

These are compared when i had my 07, i had tried both on that sled i have since sold the 07 with the razors and have the curves on my 2011. The 2011 still darts with the curves not bad but still annoying. Im going to try a dual style carbide next. I had 9" shaper bars on both of the skis when on my 07. The razor ski i always knew going into a corner no matter the condition I knew it would bite, I don't have such confidence in the curve. I did have my razors shimmed and that made a difference in steering effort before i did that they were harder to steer after shimming they were great. I wish i still had them to try on my 2011 to compare with the ps. You will get different opinions depending on who you talk to this is just mine. I do think they are a good ski just don't think the extra money for them was worth it. Just my .02 They do look great though ;)!

I have had Curves on my Apex RTX for the past 2 years. My sled darts a lot less, much improved flotation and pretty easy to steer. My sled is dialed in with these skis.

Who has all shimmed their Curve ski's?

I noticed a slight bias towards the front on mine so going to try a 1/4" shim and see what happens?

Thanks for the great reviews everyone, and by great I mean - honest, positively reinforced and backed with experience.

We came out of the gate in 2007 with a product that worked well for most riders in most conditions. People like 'maim' and 'sumpbuster' who stuck with us are a testament to that. Bob Davis, the former Snowmobile Journey distance record holder has over 20,000mi on a single set and we just sent him some new bars for yet another season.

That said, we cannot thank you all enough for the support and feedback we've received over the years. The bottom line here is we love the interaction and the passion you all have. It is that alone which keeps us moving forward, prototyping, developing innovative technologies and forging this sport into the future. This is what makes snowmobiling the greatest winter activity and Totallyamaha your #1 stop for Yamaha related technical advice and support.

I love this company!

I've stayed silent while reading the feedback here. The truth is that I picked up a set of Curves two days after posting this. Why? Positive posts here, and overwhelmingly positive posts via searching did contribute.

However, it was Seans responses to those posts that really caught my eye. The level of customer service Curve seems to provide is top notch, and this goes beyond Sean. Nathan, the Curve rep from MN personally PM'ed me and offered to let me demo some skis before I plunked down some cash, and has gone above and beyond anything I would call customer service in continuing to answer questions and provide support via PM. He wasnt looking for attention by posting in the threads, he seems genuinely interested in helping out a fellow rider regardless of whether or not they choose to purchase Curves.

How often do you see that kind of personal service with any company these days?
