Be sure whatever you put back there, is fireproof/melt proof.
perhaps a nomex cover for the rack is in order.

The exhaust is hot...

I have a luggage bag made of balistic material like most luggage bags. It may not look like a lot of room between the exhast and the rack but there is. I kept an eye on it the first time out and it never got warm.

looks nice. It's good to see people custom making stuff for their sleds instead of buy it or waiting for stuff to come out.

Forgot i had this BLADE rear rack. Also installed GPS Ram Ball mount
wind deflectors & Exhaust tip today now all i need is the Acerbis hand guards and SNOW....... ;)!

I intentionaly installed the rack this direction......

Guys, I need a rack but don't have the ability to build my own. How much weight are you putting on these ones? From what i can see, you haven't reinforced the tunnel at all, which wouldn't support something as heavy as 5 gallons of fuel, which is what I would like to carry. Any suggestions, I'd like to buy a rack from someone and install myself.

Thanks Gabe, looks like a nice rack, the Double D is what I'd like...however, I'm still left thinking the tunnel will need reinforcements. What if I placed a square tube of steel along the inside edge of the left and right of the tunnel, bolted it to the bottom of the tunnel as well as the sides, then put the rack's hardware through that tube of steel, so the weight from the rack is also beings supported along the top and sides of the tunnel. That's the best I can think of at the moment, not sure if that would work to relieve stress off the rear of the tunnel...any thoughts?

Seems like it would work out well to me. Also , have you seen the little Yamaha belt and tool bag that mounts in the front? It is a good spot to keep the stuff you shouldnt need to get to often. It opens up the plastic case for a sno bunje or gloves, etc. The Sno bunje rattler fits perfect.

don't think its a problem. the tunnel is strong. last kifaru trip i had my snowboard on one side, my splitboard on the other side and a weber grill stuffed inside/on top of the CFR rack.. we did at least 10 miles of bumpy trail riding to get to our single track trail to camp. another 5 miles or so on that. no problems, i did melt the weber grill handle though. so an exhaust solution is in my future.

those 2 snowboards and weber have a considerable amount of weight

that's great to know. Thanks!! Are you going to install an elbow or something to redirect the exhaust? I want to do something like that as well...

that was my thought, i'd like to get an MCX exhaust and close the tunnel if that is possible.. but yeah an elbow joint might work. but seriously i think the tunnel is pretty strong, we don't beat on it but we tow boarders, other sleds out, blown sleds and i've had a good amount of weight back there.. seems fine
