So I've been dealing with the typical "push" problem on my 2006 Attak and have been doing research all year to try to correct it. Presently I have 135 studs in a 4-2-2-2-4 pattern and stock skis with 6in. deuce bars.

After much searching I have come to the conclusion that my rear end is getting too much bite (those studs on the outside just aren't allowing it to slide a little) while my front is not getting enough. I want to get rid of the studs on the outside of the track but I do not want it to be swiss cheese after either. So I figured I'd just cut the studs off at the end of the nut holding them on and leave the backers. Has anyone done this? Do you guys think this would be a viable option?

Just remove the studs as the holes will have no effect short on cosmetics. Cutting hardened steel with carbide core would be a task for sure.

Your duece bars are your biggest problem for pushing I had 8" on a short track w/192 studs, never new if they were going to bite or slide. I went to pilot skis to stop the darting and they turn much easier than the stock ski's, if you don't want to get skis the slim jim's work much better. We have them on a nytro and a vector ltx both with more studs than you have and they work much better than the duece bars. Also pull your front limiter strap down one hole from stock, this will give you more bite and stability and don't have your transfer rod set to much for transfer this will also take more weight off the ski's. Some things to try before you cut studs if you haven't done these already

Put some aggressive snow trackers on that thing. The front end will go where you point it with confidence.

Have done that to a few tracks in the past that I have picked up used. Your going to need a high speed cut off wheel.

If you like the studs I would look for new skis. The 5.7s or the 6.9 pilots with a 6" one in the center and a 4" on the outside you would have a good setup. You can buy thw skis new for about 250.00

If your bent on cutting then I agree with 06. But I would just remove them. PB blast them one night, then the next night hit them with an impact. They should fly off.

Ahhh...decisions, decisions...I forgot to mention, I'll be getting new skis and was planning on purchasing the regular Yammi Mnt Skis because I didn't want to spend more money on new carbides.
I'm not totally set on ripping the studs out but it's really the only thing I can think of to get the handling I want without making the steering feel like I'm driving a tugboat. I just feel like I'm overwhelmed with choices :o|

I had the same studs and setup when I bought my sled. I removes the outer studs, sold the skis and added C&A pro Advantage skis with 6" shaper bars with Berstrom Ski-Savers 1/4 on the bottom. The rear sticks to the snow pretty good.

I'm adding a 13 mm sway bar this year to tam the front end down.

cutting studs are a pain cut the nut with saws all. I would try different skis or carbides first.
