Has anybody tried changing the CV slide springs on the Mikuni carbs? If so what were the results and where did you get the springs? I ride from 6,000 feet to 10,000 feet.
Thankx

I think the guys that were changing them were doing it when they put the K&N filters on because there's less vacume in the carbs due to better air flow. I've heard Holtzman makes some.....Red ones. By the way, I'm in Kalispell, what town you live near? We used to go down to Swamp Creek riding there in the Big Hole.....Awsome country.

There are a number of people that have discussed this lately. Holtzman makes several different springs for diferrent elevations. He calims some pretty big gains in throttle response and RPM's.

I talked to Holtzman and they have 4 sets of springs designed for different altitudes. According to Holtman, the stock springs are designed to run at sea level and there is not enough vacuum pressure to open the slide completely at altitude. I am looking for any info I can find.

I installed the red ones on my RX1Mtn.
I will try to head up this weekend. Elevations I ride are from 8,500 to 11,500+

i ride between 6000 and 10000 and have my airbox drilled so i was told to go straight to the red springs because of the increased airflow. snow is falling just not got out yet

I've bought the red and the green, tried them both in the garage on the jack stand with the air box. The red ones have a very fast throttle response, don't know how either is going to work yet on the snow with k&n's or air box. Red ones might be great for drag racing with the air box???

Thanks to all who responded.
I ordered the red springs from Holtzman today. I will post if they made any difference. I won't get to ride until after Thanksgiving.

I would hope it wouldn't make that much difference. Did you get all the little o-rings back in.

Yea mine also backfired with red springs when I took the top off of the airbox with 137 jets, put top on, awsome I'm only about 100 foot elevation in my garage
I tried the red springs stock air box. At 11000" sled picked up 600 RPM. I added 1 gram to tip still holes about 500 more RPM than stock springs. The rpm's come up much quicker than stock.

hardcore,
backfire upon closing throttle..... that's a 'lean' indication isn't it?
what jets are you running with your mod airbox and red springs?
