Going with the Hurricane SM bundle cluster flash next week. I will be using the QAY 70 weights up front. Looking for a nice low engagement between 2700 and 3000. What spring do you guys recommend? Black/Red 48/120 or the red 40/133?

black / bronze for low easy engagement.....* wrong ...I meant red for low engagement

Sj you sold your Winder??? How come? Are you sled-less at the moment??

that is a higher engagement then stock, I didn't care at all for it.

Dan

What sort of engagement RPM was it at Dan? I bought one in a kit. I was using the Thunder Products Orange in the Primary. It has a very smooth, Low RPM engagement.

From Dalton site;

Pre-load@ 2.888” Total force@ 1.593”

Dalton Black/Silver DPPS-B/S 41 kg 125 kg
Dalton Black/Red DPPS-B/R 48 kg 120 kg
Dalton Black/Blue DPPS-B/BL 53 kg 133 kg
Dalton Black/Green DPPS-B/G 62 kg 131 kg
Dalton Red DPPS-R 40 kg 133 kg
Dalton Orange DPPS-O 28kg 132kg
Dalton Black/Bronze DPPS-B/BZ 56kg 128kg*
Dalton Black/Teal DPPS-B/TL 72kg 142kg

* Note: As a reference, we tested a factory 2017 Sidewinder primary spring to be 57/115 at the above load intervals. Black/Bronze is a similar engagement to stock primary spring but a different more stable design. It does have a slightly higher compressed load.

Does any one know what the Thunder Products Orange Primary spring ratings are?

According to Dalton’s website the black/bronze is a similar engagement to the stock spring but with a little higher compression. It says stock is 57/115 and this spring is 56/128. I got this spring with a clutch kit from TD and Ben confirmed this. I haven’t had a chance to ride it yet with the new clutch kit but that is what I’m hoping for.

Sorry, the post above came through same time I posted.

Ive been liking the bk/red alot for most of last yr, Helps keep top end RPMS in check. Before that I ran the bk/blue mostly but didn't like as much as this.

Dan
Dan what do you like better about the blk/red vrs the blk/blue? Reason I ask,i have both daltons blue and green springs, the only time I ran his blk/gren was on grass, wanted higher engagement, but for trail riding I don't need or want a lot of engagement.

Remember roller size affects engagement also...…...
