The fourth wheel goes in the rear of the skid, if you look you will see three wheels there, they say they put in a fourth one for something? If it needs it, I will do it myself, I'm not so sure it needs it.

i doubt many people will be buying a 4th wheel kit?

I just ordered the 4 th wheel kit for my GT. I have 168 studs and have had trouble before on studded tracks with hard cornering w/o the 4th wheel. This was on a Polaris, I think they are cheap insurance for track alignment and studs.

Yup,
144 down the middle with the fourth wheel kit. What is the purpose of the fourth wheel?

If you were running 192 and doing hard cornering then you may want to consider it. Apparently the fourth wheel kit is so the track doesn't derail. If you are running 144 down the middle, I'd skip the fourth wheel kit.

How's a wheel going to stop it from derailing?

I've never seen a track come off the side or derail. But what I was told is having another wheel there helps because the part of the track that is driven by the drive cogs won't jump over the back wheels and having the fourth wheel helps. In my opinion, if the track is tensioned, it should be fine. Whats your opionion on why a wheel kit is needed or why they make one? :?:

I think its a sucker part. Probably a lot of people look at it and see that its non-symmetric and *just want* a 4th wheel even though its not needed. It won't help alignment because the track would have to lift ALL the way across in order to derail - and if its going to lift all the way across, then the 4th wheel won't be stopping it.

I'll agree with you on that Lazy. When was the last time you saw that happen? Me, never.
