Debating buying a high mileage Sidewinder

I bought a new Sidewinder in 19 because of all the internet hype, rode it 1200 miles and sold it, walked past it every weekend and rode my Apex. you made the right choice by keeping your Nytro.

If you had a sense that the previous owner took care of it and tunnel isnt stressed there is no doubt in my mind you can get these sleds to go the distance. There are a number of trouble areas to address to build the robustness into it. Mine is going past 17,000 km and still going strong. As much as I loved my Nytro I woulndt want it back. These procross sleds ride so much easier.

The only area the Nytro had the Procross clearly beat was - working on it. That sled was super easy to take apart and service. The Procross - is a bit of pain in a number of areas.

The is no machine out there as reliable as the old Yamahas; Apex, Nytro, Vector. They were bulletproof and cheap to run. The sidewinder beats those old Yamahas in every category; Ride quality, handling, seating position, warmth, etc. The only place the sidewinder loses is in reliability! Yes, it is more work, and more costly to operate. BUT......if you like being the King, and if you like burning absolutely anything that pulls alongside you, there is no substitute. Every form of refuge has its price I guess.

With all the preventative maintenance steps that I did before I ever rode my SW and with normal regular maintenance, my header tuned since zero miles SW has been as reliable as any of the many Yamahas I have ever owned.
I still have my Yama-Charged Apex Attak and it is a great sled but no comparison to my SW in any application except for warm weather low snow conditions where it definitely shines and now gets most of its use.
