I seem to be reading more issues with top end performance loss due to partial plug fouling. I wonder if it wouldn't be a better idea to go to a better plug. My last machZ was horrible on plugs. It got to the point where I would lose 1 plug about every 100 miles or so. I read about Denso's new (at the time) iridium spark plugs. I called Denso to inquire about them and explained my dilemha and they sent me a set to try if I provided feedback in return. The first thing I noticed was a smoother idle and crisper throttle response. The biggest thing was no more plug fouling, and I ran those plugs for 2 seasons for about 2,000 miles!
The key is the size of the electrode, smallest in the industry. Because it's so small, it is hotter at the surface burning off all residue.

I see since the Denso's came out that NGK now has iridium plugs.

What a co-incedence! I just got off the phone with Silver and I mentioned these plugs to him. I am running them in my sled right now.

They are the CR9E-IX 's and they are working great. They are a DIRECT replacemnt for the CR9E's right from NGK.

Guys i have my old iridium ngks from last year, got them from my dealer up in caribou Maine, and they have 3,800 miles on them and simply start and run good they are cr8e-ixs and i put them back in after the dule strap 10s started to idle rough up in jackman two weeks ago, after looking them over from high speed runs seem still ok.

Guys...the Denso Iridium's part number is

IU27 or IU01-27 (I would call Denso to make sure before I ordered them http://www.densoiridium.com )

The NGK (Iridium Style) direct replacement for the CR9E is CR9E-IX

The NGK - IX is the same technology as the Denso Iridium and they are available anywhere. I think they are much cheaper as well. This is what I am running and they work very well. I noticed a smoother idle for sure.

Suggested retail price for the NGK Iridium plug is $9.75 ea. US
CR9EIX I ran them last season, great starting.

This year with the turbo I'm using the CR10EK's

You can mail order the Denso IU-27 from Monach out of Califirnia for $11.99 US. ph. 888 800 9629.

They offer the IU01-27 High performance for something like $30.00 (overkill for our application IMHO).

Advance auto can special order NGK's iridium CR9E-IX for $6.99 each.
