Different Primary Spring

One of the few complaints I have bout my Nytro is how sensitive and jerky it is at very low speeds. It is very difficult to maintain a constant speed when going very slow thru tight places. It has been suggested to me to use a lower preload primary spring to lower the engagement rpm. Specifically to use a yellow-pink-yellow primary spring from Yamaha. Has any one tried this and does it smooth out the problem I am having?

When you say jerky you mean like twitchy because of overly sensitive throttle?

Check the sheaves on your primary. Do they have a groove , or a ridge as some call it, cut into them from the belt? If you do, this is more than likely the culprit to your drivability issue. I had the same experiance as yourself, talked to my half assed dealer and Yamaha is putting a new clutch on. If you do have the groove/ridge on your primary sheave's, talk to Yamaha customer service. Tell them nicely what your problem is and that you feel it is a safety issue in your opinion. THAT gets their attention!!!!! Good Luck.

To me it does feel like an overly sensitive throttle. If this is the case can anything be done about it? I will check for a grove in the sheath.

when i first rode my nytro the jerkiness was worse i just got used to having a firmer thumb on the throttle which cured it. Just treated it smoother

We changed out the cam on one for a 50/42 and a Dalton red secondary sping with 70* wrap, this kept it from hitting the rev limiter out of every corner and took some of the jerk out of it at low speed. Turk has been playing maybe he has some suggestions?

According to my dealer some of the jerkiness is caused by the EBRS, something about tough to have a steady rpm.. Same thing about the bog that almost everyone has. The EBRS and they are supposed to be working on a fix.

I ask the Yamaha rep at the Syracuse show about the overly sensitive throttle and of course he had not heard a word about this being an issue. He suggested that I have the TPS checked. Has anyone heard of their TPS needing adjustment?
