Does a High Comp Piston Require the use of Race Gas?

Just changed out the stock piston on my 2004 YFZ450LE for a 13.5:1. Really noticed a big difference in mid-top end, but seems like she bogs out alot on the bottom. Now, what I have done is I have a Titanium exhaust, K&N filter with lid re-moved, jetted, Quick shot accelerator pump cover and high performance CDI. I am running 92 octane pump gas but should I be running a 50/50 mix race/pump or full race gas. Any advice would be great.

Not sure about the gas thing, but man that's a nice looking ride. ;)!

Thanks, for a 4 year old quad this thing still rides like it was new. Bearings are done twice a year and shocks are re-built twice as well. If ya keep on the maintenance they will lats forever. Here is a pic of my other ride...lol

At 13.5 to 1 you probably should be using a mix of race gas and the 92 octane. That is a lot of compression. With higher octane you would probably see an improvement in low rpm power. I would be worried about a hole in the piston on pump gas.

Thanks to all, really appreciate all the input. This site contains a wealth of knowledge.I was actually thinkin of the Hot Cams. Maybe try and find a cheap set on e-bay before the spring. Just out of curiosity are you talkin from experience ref the Cams or just from what you may have read or heard? Cheers, Eldon.

before i did all the head work on my bike, all i had was hotcams compression piston and the thing ripped but i cant run the high compression piston with the head work because its decked and ill crash my valves but hot cams and high comp piston turn it up big time :D i no it for a fact.

Thanks again. I also have a spare head that has been ported and polished. All I need to do is swap out the valves from one to the other. Once again thanks thanks for all the input!

The head is just ported polished. I dont think it has been shaved so it should'nt have any effect on the compression. What ya think you agree?
