I am thinking of going from a 121-144 on my 07 RTX. What will be the handling affect? Anybody regret stretching there Apex?

I'm thinking of doing the same, but on a 06 RTX. So I'd like to hear others opinions to

Not exactly what you're looking at, but my last three sleds were a 136" and two 133"s. This time I went for the 121" and I'm happy I did. I also put a couple hundred miles on my brother's 121" Poo this winter. I don't see any benefit to the extra track/weight/drag unless you're riding off trail. And I can't see riding off trail on a sled like the Apex. Just my $.02

I took my Attak out to 144 this season. No regrets. Handles marginally harder than when it was a 136. BUT, when offtrail or when it's REALLY stutterd up ontrail, I love it. Once I get my shocks in my Expert x revalved and resprung, I am done LOL. A lot depends on what you are using your sled for. With my 136 Expert setback for 144 I have no serious difficulties offtrail/. My AOA is much flatter and the sled climbs up on the snow rather than trench like it did with the Mono. Of course, the 1.5 CrossCountry track helps as well. Hope this helped ;)!

I am wondering if your marginally harder handling comes from more weight on the skis from the set back skid?

136" to 144" is my gameplan this summer. Debating between the tracks USA tip-up extension or relocating the skid back farther. Obviously the extension is the easy answer, but I really like the idea of changing the AOA not only for off trail/powder but lake running as well. I would relocate it back and 3/8" lower to have more clearance underneath. Any issue with the existing RA location and a setback?

I am planning on adding the 144" Cobra with 1.450" golddiggers.

Anyone have any pics or suggestions on the skid relocate. Also, any comments, good or bad, on this idea please let me know. Would like to know now as opposed to after Im done.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hartman has brackets made that you can buy to will relocate the skid and change the AOA.

Kyster, Ski pressure is good. The length and taller lug track that is more aggresive is the only issue. Just takes a little more body english. I also added a Mountain Mod seat. It's about 2" higher than stock. Raise my 280 lb. body up and it changes the COG, but it really helps my knees and the transition from sitting to standing. Took some weight off as well. I run Powderhounds with 8" Bergstrom Triplepoints, 3/8 Ski saver, and shimmed for proper carbide alignment. Works well on and offtrail. Ask the guy's that were at the TY rides LOL!!

I took my 07 gt to a 137 with the ice ripper xt do not regret it,put 3400 miles on it this year. also didnt miss the bent and damaged studs all year, the ice ripper held up ok. The sled was a 121 to start thanks Jeff
