Filled my tank up and put 50 miles on a hard packed trail, my gas gauge went down 2 bars. Next weekend I filled my tank up but ran on a lake that had mostly loose snow powder, my gauge went down 4 bars, both trips were probably the same amount of miles. Is it because my track is spinning more in the loose snow that causes the crappy gas mileage?

I think it depends on how much your track is spinning. But yes, you will use a lot more fuel riding in powder or off trail

Its like driving your truck if you pull a 4 place inclosed trailer you use more gas than if you didn't have a trailer kinda the same with the sled you are workin the eng. a little harder and giving it more throttle so you use more gas not to much more but a bar or two

I get about 11-12 mpg in loose snow and 15+ on packed snow
