I've been through this before, any of us who have owned an apex for a while have been. I did several searches and read a lot of opinions most of them were older threads.
This season I finally decided to try a set of dual runners. As soon as I strapped them on I was quite surprised that they virtually eliminated the darting. I thought perfect I found the solution. But as soon as they started to wear in a little bit I noticed they wanted to push through the corners when I rode aggressively. I lifted my limiter strap up one hole so I am now on the third from the highest setting but it didn't seem to help. Now that they are about 1/4 worn they want to push right straight through every corner I come too. I really have to lean into it and pull hard to get the sled to go around the corner. After putting on 225 miles on twisty trails this weekend I decided I'd rather dart around than push through the corners. I ordered a set of shaper bars as soon as I got home.
I'm considering swapping out to an aftermarket ski for next year.
what has everyone elses recent experience been with stock skies and different carbide setups?

Your going to get dozens of opinions but, many of us have gone over to snowtrackers. They seem to offer the best combination of steering quality for the nose heavy Apex.
Ran duallies myself for several years. Your experience is common and accurate.
I currently run the Doo 5.7's with semi-aggr ST's. Next time I'll switch to full aggr.
Go to wider 6.9 pilots for more flotation in powder.

09 apex mtx skis dual runners on mine but some guys use snow trackers on them to , these skis give good float and great traction in corners - no darting

I have done some reading on the snow trackers and it really looks like they are pretty popular with the guys who have tried them. It seems like most of the naysayers hadn't actually tried them. They are pretty pricey but I wouldn't mind giving them a try.

Yes they are pricey but, once you go track ya won't go back!

Yep - Love the Snowtrackers on the Yamaha mountain skis on my Apex and my wife's Vector. Put hers on this year and she says it has no darting and feels very planted. I went with aggressive Snowtrakers on both. Be sure to set the toe in at 0". The sled will go where you point it with no push so if you are used to that slight push there will be a period of adjustment for you. I like my sleds to rail on the trail and this is a great solution for me.

both apex's, 2 rx war, rs venture, sx venture and a sx viper all ran the 09 mtx ski with 6" stud boy shaper bars with the tec pages ski shim mod. i have had curves on one rx war and the 11 apex xtx. they are great until the trail gets mealy and that is a lot of what we run around here. still using curves on a phazer but my go to ski is the mtx ones as they just turn no matter what in snow conditions.
You could just run a single carbide on one side and a doolie on the other side. I have been doing this for years

Hi Shanks RX-1 I do around 3000 miles a year over 16 K on my Apex first swap was to shapers it was a nice upgrade, then went to Triple points this was even a better upgrade went to duels same experience as you described now on my 3rd season with aggressive snow-trackers and will never go back. Yes a bit more money but last twice as long so cheaper in the long run, no push and no darting and easier turning, real good off trail only poor point is harder to back up, have filed the square back edge to a more rounded shape which allows backing up with less power. Hope this helps

Most it not all of our extended group of riders, use doolies on their rx, rx vector chassis, delta box vector chassis, apex's, and they all push. However, are easy to steer and do not dart! I went to curves years ago as the big keel helps with the push (and lots better flotation) but can make steering harder and ski lift worse in some conditions. Went back to single scag's for a while, and then went to slim jims, instead of doolies. Not bad, but still a push, but controllable. Been back and forth on my sidewinder with curves, and am now back to slim jims, with the front super soft. The sw now feels playful, loose, which I like. The apex had a loose ski leg bushing and now seems better with curves and single scags, but slim Jims are in the waiting. Darting all day just wears me out.
