Hello to all, yes its snowing here in Maine,,,,again. To the point, My Apex with 2100 miles on the clock has been experiencing some of the symtoms of a bad doughnut, ticking heard from certain areas around the sled on startup, and just sounds louder. No backfiring at all. I pulled the tank and seat off, then pulled the panel above the flexpipes, then reconnected the tank and ran the sled. It did sound like I had a leak in the area of the flexpipes, but no further evidence of one. I pulled the Y pipes back away from the flexpipes, and as you can see, the doughnuts look fine, and so do the pipes. none of the clamps were loose. My question is for anyone thats done the doughnut change, does everything in the picture look normal? As it stands, I'm going to put everything back together and ride.

It looks normal to me, but I'd recommend using a small mirror to inspect the other side of the pipes and spinning the donuts around to make sure they aren't starting to burn out.
If you have new donuts and you have 4000 miles on the sled I'd go ahead and change them anyway. Once they start to go, the pipes and clamps wear down quickly. It makes a lot more sense to change $30 worth of donuts now than to end up waiting for backordered pipes and a repair bill of up to $1000.

Sled has 2100 miles and the doughnuts are firmly seated in the flexpipes. Did'nt want to upset the seal any if I didn't have to. I ran a finger under the pipes and doughnuts and all feels fine, ( I have small fingers) no short you know what jokes. What is the cost for a full set of doughnuts? Thanks. Jay.

IMO,if they look OK under very close inspection with a mirror as suggested...(be sure to check Y pipes closely too)...
Id put it all back together, but use a thin layer of ultra copper like I did....i smoothed it on all around donuts AND inside the clamps themselves...I think this MAY help them WEAR longer...this is my theory anyway.
also,D-O-U-G-HNUTS.....that spelling cracks me up as those are DOUGH....as in the things you eat from Timmys....made with DOUGH....hehe,just had to mention it....these ones you dont want to eat as they are asbestos, not dough..LOL!
