As you can see the hauck setup was faster et and mph than my best Drag N Fly setup Also the the Drag N fly was better pulling lower rpms both in et and mph. Now this was a 1000ft not lake race. In a 1/4 mile or less my testing shows lower rpms is better. The same was with the hauck setup.

Next test Lower engagement primary spring with Drag N Fly

4.11 4.28 4.16 Avg. 4.18

11.27 11.48 11.38 Avg 11.37 to 10600 mph 112-113
Pulled weight out of the tip to get rpms up to 10800 and it was a little slower in et and turned 112 on top so as you can see pulling it a lower rpm is better in a 1/4 mile or less. I cannot say this would be true in a lake race.
Hauck setup vrs lower engagement /drag n fly
4.34 4.05 4.13 Avg 4.17
8.16 7.83 7.98 Avg 7.99 Pulling 10200-300
11.52 11.29 11.34 Avg 11.38 to 10500 mph 114
As you can see very much the same in et but still lower mph. This was with the drag n fly engaging at about 3700.

Final test drag n fly with black primary spring vrs best hauck setup

Heel 2.6 center3.2 3.9 tip 4.4 od
4.75 4.77
9.59 9.63 Pulling 10300-400 climbing to 1800-50

4.69 4.66
9.48 9.46 Pulling 10200-300 climbing to 10650-700

Hauck setup
4.83 4.81
9.66 9.62 Pulling 10300 climbing to 10500
mph 108-109

As you can see the drag n fly setup was better. The drag n fly with the white primary spring was the slowest. The drag n fly with a lower engagement spring was about the same but had lower mph. The drag n fly with the black primary spring was the fastest and also had a couple mph increase. This was the best setup to date probaly will try the new super rat weghts next year vrs this drag n fly setup. My conclusion is with hauck or drag n fly in a 1/4 mile drag or less distance keeping the rpms 10700 or less is better et and mph. This doesnt mean it will be better mph vrs higher top rpms on a full lake race. These were my results with my 07 attak with ram air lid and 23/40 gearing running 162 studs with cobra track. Also the mph were on speedo not gps. Thanks just wanted to share my info I have been testing the drag n fly for the past four years with many different combinations. Thanks again Kurt

Very good info what is the ingagement of the black spring . I'm useing stock spring with engagement at 3700 . And the white is about 4900 . I'm always looking to get better acceralation but I never even tryed the black spring . Sled is 03 rx1 with 192 studs 1 1/4 ripsaw and air box mod . Like I said always looking to get better

Are those speeds gps or speed trap speeds,if so that is impressive in 1000 feet, was it still 1000 ft. for 110-111 mph or was that just flat out top speed, was it ice/hard snow and yes,the blk. spring always run cooler on my apex,w/23 top and at 10,800-11,000 best speeds and hole shots, mine was set up with 5.2 5.2 4.8 and 5.2 OD this i posted two years ago,and alot told me it did not work, but for me,it was awsome. Very good write up. pete

drag n fly

The engagement with the black spring was about 3800 rpms but was pretty smooth. It did shoot out of the hole unbelievable. Best holeshot setup to date. The 110-111 mph was on the speedometer. The track was a trail which was a good hardpack temp was 23 degrees and not exactly sure on distance seen this was not my regular testing site it was an actual snowmobile trail on my dads land. I measured with my truck, from my starting point to the end and was about the 150 ft less than 2/10 of a mile. This would put it about 900-925 ft. Thanks Kurt
