My buddie just called stuck out in the woods with his rtx, stopped to smoke a cigarette running fine started it back up and would not move forward or reverse. Belt is not stuck clutch seems to try to engage from what he is telling me. Could be his drive chain broke up?? He's checking on a few things but I believe his drive shaft is fine. Any ideas, If the chain broke up though he would still be able to turn the track by turning the clutch right? Unless its preventing gears from turning? He said he can't even tow it out the woods the track won't turn.

check chain dip stick.... if he's got not lube.. chances he fryed it... maybe speedo bearing... possibilities are endless.... crazy carpet for these type of tow\s if he needs it...

Same thing happened to my friend with a brand new 2009 Apex. I rode out to rescue him. Did a basic check, belt, chain case, rear skid, etc. What had happened was when he stopped for about 15 minutes to bs with friends, the slushy snow he had been riding in froze to a solid brick just above his drivers and between track and cooler at front of tunnel. This block of ice (about the size of a lb of butter) slid down then froze solid and was jammed in between track and bulkhead/cooler thus preventing track from going either direction. He buggered his belt, wore one spot of it real bad trrying to get it to move. We removed chunk of ice with screwdriver and she was good to go after that other than a buggered belt.

Same thing happened to me once... stopped to help someone on the trail and ended up talking to them for 15 minutes or so then went to take off on my sled and same thing. Turns out it was my slides froze to my track. I picked the rear of my sled up in the air and kicked the track down from the slide and she drove away perfectly normal after that. Could be a bunch of different possibilities.

thanks for the ideas but I'm pretty sure something is f*cked. He brought it by today, its been about 50degrees here so anything would have melted I'm pretty sure something is wrong with drive chain or gears. clutch turns fine motor runs fine can only turn the wheel the belt rides on ( not the clutch don't know the name of it) a little bit forward or reverse something is sticking or jammed. Will know more 2morow.

The clips welding to the sliders wouldn't take cold temps, the plastic got hot enough to get gooey and then re-set around the clips when he stopped and it cooled. Not saying this is it, just don't want you to overlook this when you get to tinkering is all, for the amount of time it would take to check.

Sled was running fine, he stopped for a cigarette, now sled is dead.

Tell him to Quit smoking, problem solved.

thats a good one said the same thing if you didn't stop to buff a but you would have been ridin pretty
