Freddie,
I know there's been a lot of posts on the subject of your filter kit. I am very interested in your filter kit. But my problem is that I know very little about the mechanical side. What I'm wondering is, (I live in Michigan and do most of my riding up north, and in the UP) could I take the kit to my dealer and have them install it? And once installed, is there any 'tweaking' that will need to be done? I would probably order, if I could just have it installed without having to worry about adjustment. Sorry if this sounds dumb, I've been called worse

Even as a novice you should be able to remove the airbox and install the filters, the springs are also very easy to install just watch the little o rings on the back of each carb, the crankcase filter is also easy if you ordered one. All you need your dealer to do is install the main jets and the clutch kit if you ordered one.

The air kit comes with detailed instructions. Look the instructions over before doing anything and if it seems out of your league, have a dealer do it for you.

I still no one that stepped forward to offer me their sled to dyno test. If this weekends testing goes good for the airbox MOD that I am now doing for the RX1, I will also offer that for the 3 cylinder engines. I could also make a 3 cylinder version of my RX1 air filter out of an RX1 air filter to test with. This is much better than gambling on a lot of money that the filter manufacturuers want to go into production for something that might not work! As soon a a 3 cylinder becomes available to me, I will be happy to do this. Problem is too is that there aren't many around that have been used and thustly broken in.

I'd be tempted to take you up on that dyno offer, living in CT and all, but not so jiggy with taking a brand new tight RX1 to do it, given what I've read about break in on this motor. i pick up mine Tues from New England Cycle. I am however looking forward to getting one of these kits and tearing into this thing.

What I need is any of the 3 cylinder 4 strokes from Yamaha ...not a 4 cylinder RX1. But I agree with you on the break-in procedure. I don't worry much about rings as they are broke in pretty quickly but the valve seats and the main and rod bearings do need their appropriate time to break in nicely.

FREDDIE, WHATS YOUR OPINION ON HOW YOU SHOULD BREAK IN A NEW RX1?
IF IT WAS YOURS, HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?
THANKS!
