I have powermadd star handguards w/ RSI Billet Mounts- because the stock handguard mounts are flimsy and break. I installed the ROX extensions around the handguards and installed RSI heaters and Grips- No more cold hands! Plus they look good too- I just couldn't get past the looks of the "dumbo ears".

I have both Skinz and dumbo's and before I did the RSI warmers and grips I had a chance to compare the two, The Skinz have the best wind protection but after a couple of times using them one side allways wants flip up in high wind conditions/high speed, I tryed tightning the velcro but its still did it, I think they need a stiffer support. The Skinz kept my hands pretty toasty with the factory hand warmers. The only down side to installing the Skinz is you have to remove the plastic hand gaurds, not a huge deal but not as easy as the dumbo ears. They also have interferiance with the end of the bars and sometimes get in the way of stand up riding.
The dumbo ears rock and are extremely easy to take on and off. They give very good wind protection and have no interferiance with trail riding or off trail boondockin. The also do not take up to much space if you wanted take them off and put then in a bag. I actually like the look of them and get allot of positive questions from other riders.
If your not a agressive rider then skinz "work" the best for the intended use but the dumbo ears are great for all around riding and even better with the VERY SIMPLE RSI MOD!!!

I did the Yamaha Dumbo Ears, went to order the Skinz and was told they were on BO. The Yammy ones are like the trail version, All I have used, but I too upgraded to the rocmeister whc kit, Simple, fast, reasonable price, does everything it says. Also great customer service.

For all out warmth you can't beat the powermadd gauntlets. The powermadd gauntlets do fit the Yamaha handgaurds, They're not a perfect fit but nothing the casual observer is going to notice.... The skinz ( I like to call them a half gauntlets ) are also a good product and I have them on my Phazer. These are nice because you can still be active on the sled and they really don't interfer with anything. The dumbo ears I'm sure cut down on wind but I rate them a distant third as far as warmth.
**But all in all the best bang for the buck is the Rockmeister kit. This kit with the skinz is a pretty potent combination for cold days IMO.**

I just installed pretty much the same set up on my Apex as this: Powermadd Star series handguards with mirrors, ROX billet mounts and ROX extensions (basically makes a gauntlet....) They look sweet and I've heard they block all wind really helping keep hands warm.

I have both Gauntlets and Skinz. They are both easy to take on and off. I just stick one in storage and use the other. I mostly just use the Skinz cuz I like the ease of everything in site and easily accessible.
