After too many problems with my 05 500LE Arctic Cat in 250 miles, I traded up to a 06 Grizzly. Without a doubt, the Grizz is a better handling machine, I am very happy with my choice.
Just found this site and I thought I say hello.
I do have a couple questions, I will soon be ready for my 100 mile mark and will be changing the fluids. Any opinions on synthetic oils?
thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site. Synthetic oils lube better than dino oils but I understand that the Grizzly has a wet clutch in the engine cases. I wouldn't put synthetic in mine unless it is approved for wet clutches. Just my opinion.

You can run the Yamaha Semi Synthetic but I would only use the oil that is made for wet clutchs as it will cause the clutch to slip.

WELCOME!! I think you will love your grizzly I have had many different machines and the grizzly is by far my favorite. There is a reason it has been the best selling full size 4x4 every year since it came out...

Wait until you have at least 300-400 miles before you switch to full synthetic. The reason for this is to make sure that the rings break in properly. Synthetic oil is so slippery that if you go to it to soon you could have smoking issues later on.

Regarding your question, the debate about the use of synthetic oils in wet clutch applications extends way beyond the scope of this forum. The following link makes for some interesting reading on the subject http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html
For what it's worth, I use Shell Rotella-T Synthetic 5w-40 in all of my quads.

Another vote for Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40
Been running Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 for about 2 years now. Highly recommended from multiple sources. Safe for your clutch with an additive package that is second to none. My Grizz starts noticably easier in cold weather. The price is right too - $13.00 per gallon at Wal-Mart.
