this was posted in another thread, but feel it's appropriate to repost here. i have already started doing this in my ford triton V10 with 210,000 miles on it. already noticed in one tank it has smoothed out a slighly rough idle.
this is a MUST READ!!!

That is the thread I was speaking of in a few other threads here. I'm definitely trying that this year along with installing in-line fuel filters. I will post any progress or failure.

Sasquatch said:Ok before everyone craps on sea foam. They have a product out for ethanol based gasoline. FYI
Till a couple seasons ago we had no crap gas. Now we have joined the rest of north america. Damn!
Ontario has had E10 for a number of years. It just wasn't publicized allot until our big brother to the south started using it. Funny that because of this no one had any problems.
You don't need to add anything to your fuel. Like mentioned here E10 is actually harder to freeze then without ethanol.
Only thing we can't control is phase separation and no stabil, starbrite, Seafoam or any other product can help with that. Chevron say on their website their E10 is good for a year in a close container in mild climate. I would say that goes for all TopTier gas. So is phase separation a problem? Well unless your on the same tank of gas year after year then no.
Just keep it fresh and get TopTier gas when you can and no worries.

Oh and a post was made over the 2 stroke site about this test.
http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=451220
I sometime contemplated to do a simple test like this but I don't believe in any of these products so I though why do it.
This will be good for all the believers wasting money on these fuel stabilizers. I don't want to insult anyone here. Their product promise so much and are fairly cheap. We care allot for our machine and is very tempting to add stuff like this by saying it can't hurt or its been working for me for xx years. This is what these product prey on and the only reason they're selling.

Just the other day, I took the carb bowls off of my '95 Vmax 600 as a precaution, they were spotlessly clean, and the sled started right up, runs great. All 4 of my sleds use the E10, have absolutely no problems. I remember all the discussion about using unleaded gas in the sleds many years ago, that was a bunch of crap as well, all that resulted is now our plugs last longer without the lead.
Wig
So by running regular gasoline with lead and no ethanol I should probably change my plugs sooner?
