Petro-Can Ultra 94 - Information thread

I would recommend anybody who bought the pkg of tunes to load the stock tune when you have doubts on fuel quality. This feature alone makes buying the pkg and picking the tune a very attractive option.
First thing I loved the most about flasher cable, Dave told me he gives me stock MAP, so that can load in with flasher anytime and no worry then...run it on 87 for all it cares. Love this.

If your a turbo owner a good investment is klotz octane booster. This stuff actually works opposed to most other octane boosters that don’t do anything.

Torco has best results...But I have seen good reviews on the KLotz too.

I ran Lucas octane booster alot on the cat, as its sold at canadian tire up here, and while its not nearly as good as the torco, it will work well with the 94 I ran to avoid any knock lite.

I would just have some 94 around for those radar days when I want to use the BIG Maps.....

Im a trail rider/ first and foremost....and plan to ride many tours and trips like we have been in all the past any seasons, so being able to run 87 if need be, is where Im at....and as long as you are smart and dont hold it forever, these sleds wont get hurt from fuel/deto.....Trail riding you rarely hold it for more the a few seconds, especially our trails where its all corner to corner tight stuff.

It actually copies your stock Map when you load a tune for the first time I think. Plus we will have the knock light feature soon with the new tunes, so should never have to turn it below 270 hp or so. Ben from TD posted those videos running 87 octane on his powertrail tune and couldnt get it to knock.

But all 93+ octane in Ontario has ethanol. I get UPI energy 93 octane at my golf course because it costs almost the same as 87 octane, but Im afraid to run it in my sidewinder. Its in an above ground tank, so who knows how much water and other #*$&@ is in there.

The Marina down the street from me has 92 octane fuel with no ethanol, not sure where the guy gets it from, some fuel distributer around Ottawa. The owner likes fast boats, so he is anal about having high octane, ethanol free gas available.

A good friend of mine is high up in suncor! He asked about the fuel available in Ontario and this is what he said, all 91 is ethanol free unless it's a four grade station that has 94. They only carry two tanks and the 89 is a mix of 87 and 91 so likely only 5%ethenol. The 94 contains ethanol and toluene to get numbers up. Marina gas never has ethanol because it absorbs moisture and not good near water. And all fuel north of sudbury contains no ethanol. This came from the engineers at suncor last year so thing may have changed.

Not entirely true, I was curious on this myself and they opened a new Esso station close to my house and they sell 87,89,91,93 octane. I emailed Esso customer serVice and they responded saying there 91 and 93 does not contain ethanol.

In the United States all fuel with ethanol must be labeled on the pump “contains ethanol” along with the percentage.

Just read this in owners manual to clear up all this ethanol talk

Not really what we wondered about. But does confirm the gas line anti-freeze I used alot when younger, which said on bottle 100% ethanol.

It seems there are very few(If any) premiums above 91 without ethanol. And they may need the ethanol to achieve 94 at the pump at places like Petro Can up here.

94 ultra does contain 10% ethanol and owners manual says you can run up to 10% ethanol

LOL.....yeah it was more about what is better when upping the boost ect.....compared to how etecs dont seem to like ethanol ect.

I knew about stock winder and the ethanol thing, most every manual from doo, poo, cat, yam all say exact same thing.

I wondered about how ethanol effects octane is the best way to put it. And it sure seems it DOES NOT effect it, and even is used to UP the octane in many cases. And the end bonus is that fuel wont freeze up if any moisture is in it.

But then there is the downfalls, of ethanol sitting overtime....hard on rubber fuel parts. So try to use a treatment or non ethanol for summer storage.

Ethanol often gets blamed for people’s engine problems when it is likely never the culprit. We’ve had ethanol in our gas in Maine for a long time now. Just like always sleds run just fine on it as long as you’re jetted/tuned properly, carbs/fuel delivery clean, no air leaks, and proper octane. It’s always easy for guys to blame the ethanol when they burn down due to poor maintenance. Those people usually burn down over and over because they just throw pistons at it until they then change their mind and blame it on brand or particular engine.

Agree....When I went back to a 2 smoker(ETEC) in 14, dealer told me they are all good now, no more blowing up ect....but said JUST dont use fuel with ethanol. I then saw this over and over on DTalk. So luckily here in Ontario, most ALL premium does NOT contain any ethanol. Fast forward, season two etec blows up. LOL .

IMO it went down due to possible icing, which likely would not have happened with ethanol in fuel. Ironic.

Doo just said bad injector, which they also told a ton of other etecs owners that month when they all went down. Doo just does their thing, throws in new engine and never satisfies an OCD person like myself. So its near impossible for me to own a 2s ever.
