Ive had this odd issue for a while now and just cant seem to shake the problem. I have a 2006 Apex RTX. I have a Ice Ripper XT and my previous track was a studded ripsaw (Clipped every third). Since I bought my sled I just seem to consume Hyfax about every 300 miles. The hyfax wear right at the bend up in front towards the screw that holds it in place, They are gone within 200-300 miles on both sides. I recently had to replace the upper pivot arm for the skid which was cracked and had everything looked over. I adjusted my limiter strap to put all the pressure on the front ski's but I just cant handle how the sled rides like this, still seems to wear like this anyways. any suggestions? Id consider a wheel kit but my concern is something could possible be wrong in the suspension but I am not sure what to look for.
also:
I am running cheap hyfax from a local parts store (Yamaha part number but only cost $25 for a pair)

How much play do you have in ypur track. You need about a 1" of hang in the middle of the skid.
Throw an antistab kit on the front or try the new yami slides. Either or both should solve the issue

Appreciate the fast response, I have it hanging about 1.5" in the middle of the skid but it also seems like I might have it to loose? My buddy said yesterday at one point if I gave it enough throttle the track would actually dump out from the driveshaft and be sloshing in front of the skid?? (This was also after I adjusted my limiter strap to the tightest position to save my hyfax). I never heard if my sled doing this untilI adjusted the limiter strap.

I think it sounds like your track is too tight. But how 'bout adding wheels at the wear point. Also, how close are they to 10mm? Mine is a 07 with a 136 mono but I have the cheap sliders and have 1500 miles on them and I have at least 13mm everywhere.

Well ive considered the wheel kit here:

Even shows a picture of the wheel being installed where all my hyfax wear out completely. I am at work now so I cant look at the hyfax to measure the wear but when I get home I will. It has to be around 11-12mm tho after just a weekend of riding :/
Do I need to drill a hole in my slides though to mount that wheel kit? I didnt see any pre-drilled holes around the area I would need to install them. Thats my only concern.

I went from a center studded Predator track with very little slider wear to an Ice Ripper and got the same results- hyfax gone in 200-300 miles. I added ice scratchers and the Pioneer wheel kit and it seems to have solved the problem but I'm not quite sure what the cause was. My gut tells me that the difference in windows and clips between the two tracks was the issue but it's hard to say for sure.

Are you running the fully clipped version?? I am almost debating if I should have gone with the clipped every 3rd hole version.

I run the same track, along with 2 other friends. It is because the track is clipped every hole vs every 3rd. Go with the duponts and you wont need any other fixes. You can justnchance them once a year and should be good
Also remember. Most conditions right now are thin. Your going to burn through them a lot faster on thin snow or running roads.

I have this exact same marginal snow wheel kit on my '07 Apex. It is designed to be installed at the front curve in the slide rails where you are wearing out your slides. I installed these wheels when my sled was a year old and I was replacing my worn out slides for the first time. They did completely eliminate slider wear in this area. I have attached pictures of the front and rear view of the installation. Yes, you need to drill holes in your slide rail to install them.
Some words of caution: Use red Loctite on the bolts. I used blue Loctite initially and I lost a wheel when the bolt backed out. After re-installing the bolts with red Loctite I have not lost a wheel since. Check the replaceable bearings every season. These small wheels spin at a much higher RPM than the larger wheels and consequently the bearings will fail sooner. I usually end up replacing the bearing on at least one of them every season.
The Dupont slides probably will negate the need for these wheels. I am just getting ready to install my first set of Dupont slides and I will be leaving the wheels on since they are already mounted. You can see in the last picture that the Dupont inserts start right about where the wheel is mounted. You may want to try the Dupont slides by themselves first and perhaps save some time & money by not having to install and maintain the extra wheels.

Thanks Blue dave for the pictures, thats exactly what I was wondering for mounting. So at this point I think I am going to get the Duponts and the Wheel kit just in case. Thanks for the advice everyone! Hope this solves my issues (I am fairly confident it will)
antistabs require no drilling, are slightly forward of the small wheels kit, and are $100.00 for the full set from wahl bros....Just a FYI

Put the Dupont Sliders on there, and don't even bother looking at it again!
I put them on 3 sleds, they are the real deal.... Gives you one less thing to worry about while riding.

It is fully clipped and it is the clips with the holes in them.
