ECP RX1 turbo asphalt sled...

NO offense Freddie But 40 to 50 pounds of boost. First 40 pounds of boost would be like 500 degrees of intake heat.

The idea of 40 to 50 pounds of boost sounds silly to me. I say 25 pounds of boost with a 100 to 150 HP hit of NOS the Charge from the turbo would have little to no heat with that amount of NOS injected.

You also have a limitation of about 400 HP with the 42mm carb your using.

Hi jeff of simons cpr you have the records and the turbo to back up the first 7 second sled in the 1/4 mile and that by itself is a job well done.. Now jeff is your turbo 1000cc??? because most of all the mod sleds you run aganist are not, including keith woods and most all of the 2-stroke woodys is 1180cc something, and i have heard yours is too,can you clear this up,thanks. Pete

ecp turbo

freddie, are you building a water injection system like barry has on his bike , also all the big motors like hank booths have half inch studs with that monster boost ???

right now were running a stock bore and a 4 mm stroker crank, it is a 1066cc. it is the same engine i built for the guys who won the psi big iron shoot out. at 1066 cc, we are definetly the minority when it comes to cubic in, do you suppose a 10 percent displacement increase would help? lol. i,m guessing another 40+ hp, were just evolving it one step at a time as we need, and can use more power. jeff

freddie i dont know if you heard but our old friend jeff metz was killed in a car wreck a few weeks back.

badcats...I have goosebumps reading this! Thank you for telling me. Jeff was a gentleman. Sometimes spent money hedidn't have but nonethelss was a gentleman and I considered him a friend. Where was he killed? Have an addres where I could send a sympathy card? f you don't want to post this info here please e-mail it to KliesECP@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks again and I will say a prayer and have some good thoughts for him and his family. I am sad.

Fastsled...I too have the chromoly studs. Actually though, they are metric. I am also using a copper head gasket with my ECP CNC machined copper coated, stainless steel o-rings that we do here.

I am not planning on using water injection. Right now, we are making 290HP. Plans are a larger turbo with 50 pound capability. Not that we will use 50 pounds of boost but we need it there in case. We will intercool the combustion chamber with nitrous oxide.

Jason...your ideas have a great deal of merit for sure. The smartest thing that I know is that I realize that I don't know everything! Perhaps we will spray in more power. But, I have ways of curbing the combustion chamber and intake heat. 40 to 50 pounds of boost is something we have been doing on our funnybikes for 20 years! I realize our limitations with the carb too. That is why I could easily install a 48 or 50mm Lectron. Or better yet, once my ECP fuel injection is done and tested, we could try that. Thanks for replying.

I spoke with Fred and he said you can bore the Carb you have.

The problem with that much boost is getting it cooled.

If your making 300 on boost I would try to make 400 with the NOS. You will actually get more HP per Pound of boost when up the amount of NOS. The NOS will naturally cool the charge. NOS injection and water injection will cool the intake charge at high % then a air to air cooler can "that's a fact"

I have intentions of boring the carb first Jason. If I were to fab an intercooler, it would be a dry ice intercooler of at least an ice intercooler.

you don't need an intercooler with NOS or Alcahol injection. Your making close to 300hp without an intercooler, NOS , or water injection. If you add one of those items you will make power well above 300 hp

the Turbo is a trail turbo. When you get the new Turbo the power will increase
