Has anyone added an electric Ohlin shock and controls from a Apex/Attak GT to a RS Mono? I wouldnt think this would be to involved. Although I wonder if the shock is controled from the ECU or just with the switch? Big Black Warrior told me that Port Yamaha use to sell a kit for this and that he has one on his RS Rage. I was thinking this could be a cool mod if it is doable. There are a number of Apex/Attaks being parted out now so parts are becoming pretty easy to get. I did a search on this and couldnt find any info. Thanks, G.B.

I remember reading that a while back. As I recall there is/was a kit available for this conversion but it may have been for the Apex upgrade. Also as I recall it was pretty pricey. I would send a PM to Kevin at Port Yamaha and ask him.

DaJudge, I know that Port did or still does make a kit for the RS as BBW bought one for his Rage. He told me that regular price was $1,000 and that I think he bought his at a show out east for around $500. I was looking to see if anyone knows if you can take the electric shock and handle bar controls from a Apex/Attak GT and put it on an RS. If all that controls the motor on the shock is the switch with a little power, then this should be almost a bolt on. If the shock and switch are controled from the ECU then it would be really tough to do. Now that I think about it, there is an indicator gauge that tells you where the EC shock is set on the Apex/Attak. So there is probably some link to the ECU. Hmmmm. Thanks, G.B.

If your installing an Electric Ohlins onto an RS model you really need to buy the Yamaha kit as the shock itself is just a bolt in deal but in order to control the compression damping you need a controller. On the Apex models the controller is built into the ECU and the digital gauge and handwarmer button controls it. On the kits sold for the RS models they come with an Ohlins controller in the kit that you mount to the dash to control the shock as the RS models are not electrically equipped to run that shock. Finding these kits anywhere other than in the factory kit is next to impossible.
