Energy conserving oil & Stater clutch

Hi, I am a new member with Question . I have just done a oil change on my new vector and I used a Energy conserving oil( Penzoil platinum 5w30). The Question is has ANY one had problems with there stater by using a Energy conserving oil??

from what i read on the pennzoil site about it, i would think it would probably help with stator issues due to it preventing corrosion and deposit buildup - i beleive stator issues are caused by deposit buildup (usually by infrequent oil changes). i know yamaha atv's that dont have regular oil changes usually have stator issues.

Sorry I am talking about the stater clutch slipping because of the addives in the oil. They say that there could be issues. I had bought the proper oil From a dealer but when I went to put the oil in after dumping the old stuff I found that the seals under the caps had been broken.Here I am no oil no riding late Sat. afternoon I didn't want to put that stuff in my new sled so I used some 5w30 Penzoil synthetic.

i've used mobil in our 4 strokes after break in - between 4 sleds we have about 15000 miles without any issues - someone will come in with some good info - there's engineers and auto techs on here that will have the info about the stator clutch.

Whats wrong with the recommended Yamaha oil and filters? Why expiriment with other oils after spending $10,000 on a new sled? Leave that to the chemical engineers whos job that is. I don't think the starter has a clutch. The starter is continually engaged and runs with the motor all the time. Just watch that the power goes off after the motor starts or the battery will discharge powering the starter and leaves you stranded. This will also damage the starter.

Yamaha recommendations for oil is 0W30 or 0W40 not 5W30. A lot of guys are using a full synthetic oil without any problems with the starter.

Thanks for all the advise. I will change back to Yamaha oil. As I said I did buy some 0w30 semi synthtic but the seal was broken on a few jugs so I didn't want to put it in my new sled.So I had some Penzoil 5w30 I used. I will change it out at the end of our season and go back to a non energy conserving oil, 0W40 Full synthetic oil. Thanks again and I really enjoy this site.

In regard to my above post. The starter is not engaged on a continuous basis. I failed to look at the whole starter. There is a clutch there built at the end of the starter but not the usual bendix operation like on cars at least in the past. Sorry about the misinformation.

Because Yamalube is twice as expensive as a far superior oil.

Yamalube is made by Citgo in S. America, they were/are the lowest bidder to produce Yamaha oils, nothing more, Yamaha is not in the oil business, they obtain a manu who will produce the cheapest oil possible as long as it meets their specs.

There are numerous oils available that "exceed" Yamaha specs, only they are priced about half of what Yamaha charges. What oil would you rather run, one that just meets the spec or one that exceeds it and is about half the price?

Rap, numerous upon numerous oil/filter posts have been written then debated to death over the years on here so most don't even bother replying anymore so d a search and draw your own conclusions.

I am fairly new to Yamaha sleds I but did a pile of research myself and I am currently running Mobil-1 0W-40 Europena formula with no issues.

Countless others are running Mobil products, Redline products etc with no issues and have for many many years so you will have no worries running those types either.
I am not going to tell anyone what to run and what not to run, that is entirely up to you but it just makes me cringe when I see people wanting to buy Yamalube, which imo is way over priced for what you get.
