Has anyone even heard of ANY RX1's having an issue with starter clutch slippage, regardless of what oil they have been using????

I swapped to Castrol GTX (non syn) and now I am getting a little pananoid about slippage in the sprauge clutch.

Another question: If the starter clutch does slip due to energy conserving oil couldnt you just drain the oil and flush out the motor with some sea foam to return the required friction to the clutch and then refill with Yamalube???

I have never seen a post where anybody said they had slippage and just about every oil has been tried by someone on here. If it was an issue, I'm sure it would have shown up here at one time or another. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you were to take the right side of your engine apart and see how your starter clutch functions you will realize that you have nothing to worry about in regards to type of oil. Take my word for it, I've been there.

I run friction synthetic with friction reducers in an ATV with a submerged clutch. Works great. The lines in the manual got copied from the R1 manual and the slippage issue *might* only be experienced when you put a LOT of power through the wet clutch. 150 (or now 180) on a wet clutch better not have any friction modifiers in it. There is nothing to worry about.
