Does Yamaha make an engine block heater for the fuel injected 4 strokes? I just got back from a trip in northern Minnesota with overnight temps -37 F and morning temps at -24 F. Our group consisted of thirty riders and of those, four of us were riding Yamaha 4 strokes, two Phazers, one Nytro XTX, and one RX 1. Not one of the Yamaha 4 strokes started on it's own. Believe me we heard about it all weekend long. I am not dealing with this again.

i used a stick on oil pan heater. 100watt. Plug in for hour and it starts good and no problems. Either way youre going to hear about it even if your buds see a cord plugged into your sled.

Yam429 im just south of you in corcoran. and yes yamaha does sell a block heater for the sled....its an easy install and who cares what your buddies think, just remember they have to add oil and you can laugh when you watch them try to pull over there 2 smokes when its that cold and just about rip there arm out of the socket!

just was looking at the acc. catalog today and saw the one Yamaha sells. It's on page 146 of the 2013 catalog. sells for 35.95 and is listed as part # sma-heatr-cl-nt

Keep in mind thats a coolant heater not a block heater like yamahahaapex has...

Yeah I saw the coolant heater but the one I saw was not for the fuel injected 4 strokes only the carbed 4 strokes. I would prefer to have a block heater. Where would I put it, around the oil tank itself or under the motor? And what wattage and manufacturer is the best?

Just bought the yamaha coolant heater for my nytro, it has not arrived yet , but does anyone have any pictures of 1 installed on a similar machine?? Does the kit come with relatively good installation instructions?? Thanks all.

The majority of the oil is on the side but wherever you put the stick on piece its going to be a tough fit. You also have to stick it on a hot surface so make sure the sled is warmed up good otherwise youll have a hell of a time. Instead of putting mine on the side panel i put mine underneath and bought the smallest pad available which was 100w. Yes its not heating much oil but for the hour or two hours MAX it is in the lowest point of the sled right next to the exchanger and the heat thats generated rises in the engine compartment.

So for me it wasnt about how much oil is where that made me decide where to put it but it was the heat of the pad in the compartment was what i was after. -40c overnight and i plugged in for 1:15mins and it started excellent. Didnt take long to fire up so it was similar to having a hair dryer under the hood basically.

Thanks yamahaapex for your input. What heater did you purchase and where from?
