Guys, first time buying the Four Stroke if it ever arrives from my dealer. I ran SRX's and Vipers the past six years.

I noticed they have a battery heater and coolent heater available as options listed on the Yamaha website.

1. Do I need these? I ride in Northern Wisconsin and Northern Illinios.
2. If I need one, which do you recommend?

The thought of having a coolent heater sounds great on the cold nights. Just wondering if I should spend the money and add the additional weight.

Thanks,

I've had my RX-1 outside on many cold nights, many at -20F, and always had it start right up. Unless you're riding in areas that are very cold, I don't really see the need, but that's just my opinion. And welcome to the Four Stroke World!! :4STroke:

You are going to love the switch from 2 to 4 strokers. I had my 03 RX-1 in Canada the last 2 years (2 weeks at a crack). You wont need either. My sled always started even in -40. If you want to make a great investment buy a Optimate battery charger. This will keep your battery at peak performance

Dont waste your money... I live in lower wisconson and ride in the U.P. and upper wisconson and i never had the need.. it doesnt get as cold as it did 10 years ago

Well, I like someone to tell that they left their RX-1 in -40 too -45 degree celcius for about two weeks straight or longer, than I would have alot more confidence with these four strokes. When you travel up too Hearst Ontario in the heart of winter, (the best trails in the world) it's -40 for a long time their. I would like to know if my Apex will start.

Thanks,

I rode in Northern Quebec for a week last February and while it wasn't severly cold for a week straight, it was below zero for 3 days running, with one night at -25 and the next at -42. While the sled wasn't "thrilled" at the thought of actually turning over and starting on the -42 morning (would you be?? :ORC ), it did start....impressively I might add.

I would save my money. ;)!

I have never had a problem and I do ride in Hearst. The coldest I have ever had was about -35C and it started.....it was rough, but it started. Carry jumper cables.

Hey ROTAX...stay at the Companion and store it in the garage... ;)!

I was planning on staying there. Thanks.....
