2007 Attack GT
Drove 60 miles and parked the sled over night. Next morning it was 5F out, went to start the sled and it didn't fire. Fuel pump was running and the engine cranked over normal....just not fuel and or fire to start. Dash showed engine code 12 with binking yellow light. Took it to the dealer and two days later when they went to work on it, the sled starts up. They cleared the codes and called Yamaha. Dealer checked connectors, crank sensor ohms, ground block and looked for any rubbed wires per Yamaha. They couldn't find anything wrong so I pick up the sled. The following week I ride 160mile and next morning 5F out and it doesn't start...engine code 12 again. I cleared the code and after a few seconds of cranking, the sled starts. No issues the rest of the day.
I know the stator is the common failure in this case, but it seems the sled will start after clearing code 12. Anybody have the same issue and what was the fix?

Sounds like the crank position sensor if the Code 12 keeps coming back. I had same code and it would not clear. I ended up changing out the stator/crank position sensor with one from RMstator. Cured the problem. I picked up a spare for the wife's sled. But we have since traded hers in. So I have a brand new stator with crank position sensor (in box) if you are interested. $120 OBO plus shipping if you are interested.

Having same code 12 with my Attak GT, I've checked the ohms on both the sensor and stator and both appear to be within spec. Curious if you checked your ohms on your sensor and stator? I'm hesitant to buy from RM stator due to poor comments throughout this site but I'm even more reluctant to drop $370 for a new OEM stator assembly.
