I'm thinking of modding my gas tank to clear the steering post . I have some epoxies and seal all... no one wants to weld my tank . The tank is for a front mount turbo.

Yes, I really don't want to do that. Hopefully I will find another way. Your rivets are not leaking gas around them ? I guess they wouldn't being that they swell.

One more time --Just turn around the gas-tank mounts, it will move the tank back by 2,5 to 3 " all the heat as well as clearance issues are taken care of in one go. Side benefit is it moves some weight back and really helps the sled's balance with a front mount.

Cheers.......

No problem at all , I will try to take a picture tomorrow , you have to cut the tank cover ahead of the filler hole , I trimmed mine way back to allow the heat to escape , just enough left to hold my Gauge pod Ignition Key and boost controller.

I cut my tank and plastic welded it when I built my front mount in 04 and it has held up so far. It took a lot of patience to get the pinholes out of it so it wouldn't leak . I kept sinking it in a tub of water while putting very low air pressure in it to check for leaks and then reweding the pinholes. After I got it sealed up I epoxied all the seams to be sure. I also use a piece of asbestos siding behind and beside the turbo for a heat shield, just in case, Ken.
