Ok on my
on my negative there are two wires plus the heated visor groundIf you look at the negative terminal on the battery there should be multiple separate wires connected there, I think three. If there is only the main wire then you don't have the kit.
If you post a picture of the battery connections I can probably tell.

Are the two wires on a single lug?

No three wires total. So it has had the update.. Talked to the mechanic at bb Yamaha and he said it sounded like a ground problem. I tried splicing a couple of the grounds from the yellow block back to the battery and no success.

My issue drove me nuts.
Pry the grounding block out carefully and clean it up. There is a ground on the clutch side top panel that should be checked and lastly the ground in the ignition switch.
TO TEST: Take a scrap pc of wire, touch to grounding block and to frame or neg battery. Turn key and try to start.
Should do the trick. Splicing only a couple and not all will still point you in the wrong direction. One side of the block may have a lil black on it, Its usually on one side of the block.
Thats one of 3 main ground checks on these babies.

Just went and tried that and nothing... It cranks a bit but not nearly enough to start. Same as before.
I started testing voltage and when I crank I'm only getting 9 v out of battery and 9 v going to starter. How much voltage drop is normal, this seems like alot.

Hmmm, not to familiar with loads on the Phazer. Did you try searching "starter"? Possible major draw?
Battery voltage full charge is: 12.6+
80% is 12.42v
60% is 12.2v
40% is 11.9v to give you an idea.
If your at 9v, you have a major draw aka starter (in my non prof opinion) And your killing the battery.

Thats what im thinking too. It's such a pita to get at is it possible it's a system ground.? I just tried running jumper cables ( with booster pack) from the starter side of solenoid and to frame and it does the same thing
