who makes an aftermarket exhaust for the vector... just bought one for my wife, rode it a little, it needs a little extra sound... any advice...

www.maxxperf.com makes one, i believe www.whiteknuckleperformance.com is making one, but they might be in the process still. www.hauckpowersportsinc.com is making one...they r a dealer, but takes a lot of grass drags up at haydays, they know what there doing. good thing, they make a quiet, and loud exhaust so u can buy a quiet exhaust that is trail legal, with a hp increase

One of the main reasons people buy the RX/RS line of sleds is for the quiet exhaust. Why modify the stock system in search of one or two more ponies only to make more noise and piss off the anti snowmobilers more?
One of the main complaints besides pollution from the two-smokes is the noise factor. Trails are getting closed all the time because some yahoos go screaming down the trail with aftermarket pipes on their machines.
Unless you are racing it's a dumb idea and a complete waste of money. Think about it! The future of the sport depends on all of us to be responsible.
Now I'll get off my soapbox.

The White Knuckle exhaust is a great unit & easy to install. Talk to Tork, he has one installed on his Vector!

Yes and you can buy one from Allen above at ulmerracing.com or the speed shop. In riding with some 05 RX1s over christmas the vector was just too quiet for me compaired to the stock RX. Installation was easy. It has a nice deep tone and the weight savings is huge.
During my 700 mile trip with 3 RX sleds I am sure it adds more than the 3 hp claimed because the RX sleds were only a little bit faster on all our flat out lake runs.

It is beautifully made of stainless steel and a perfect fit.

Hey, Nice rumble, Harleys roar down the highway every day. Are we still in America?

I have an aftermarket exhaust on my Harley. The Vance Hines aren't as loud as my previous Python 3s, but it is louder than stock, I agree with you. The difference is that there aren't big groups of tree huggers all over the country crusading against loud Harley Davidsons on the highway.

Off-highway vehicles are increasingly losing the places where they can be ridden. Why piss off the landowners, the tree-huggers, and the people in the towns where you go for lunch any more than you have to?

Myself I appreciate the quiet...loud doesn't always mean FAST...it just makes them sound fast. But after awhile that noise to me on a 250-300 mile ride is annoying!

Believe me I am not out to be 'boy racer noise polluter' I deliberated long and hard about the exhaust. If the vector wasn't so dang quiet and was more like he RX1 in exhaust tone and weight I would not have done it.
I was prepaired to take it off and sell it on the classifides and chalk a $100 loss as a stupid mistake if it was too loud. In 700 miles 1/2 of the two strokes I was around were louder than my ride. Plus the tone is more like a V8 with a Borla exhaust rather than the skull splitting crazed chainsaw sound of a piped 2 stroke.

Exhaust noise

Tork,

I have to agree with you, on our 700 mile odyssey we ran across many young hot rod sleds with loud and annoying exhaust. Often while riding the great northwoods I think how lucky we are as group that the local landowners allow us to cross their property in pursuit of our wintertime passion!!!! So I am very confused when these loud/obnoxious sleds scream by and can't figure out why any local would have a problem with us as a group ( yes I understand we have a large local economic impact).

Your exhaust as an aftermarket product had a very pleasant rumble to it at idle and once underway it was as quiet as my stock RX-1 and Warrior, so I was a little confused as to why you would buy this item, but, once we got a chance to race I was impressed with the performance gain, I'm just glad you didn't opt for some louda.. pipes, nice choice. Anyway, let's leave the loud stuff to the track dudes.

? When's the next ride?

Waterdog

Waterdog!!!!
LMAO with that one. Fearless leader or cold water murderer I was not sure for a minute there LOL. But it was fun, Suisse does not know what he missed.
Of all the nice things you did, you said "do you know how good your sled sounds? Have you heard it while somebody else was riding it?"
Then you shot across the lake with it a couple of times and I though yeah you are right it sounds damn good. I also agree that it is the same or not that much louder than a stock RX although the pitch is much lower.

I hope to go riding soon. The kids and work dont always make it easy. Shooting for the weekend that you'll be up.

Hey Tork, how about a description of the installation and some pics of the system. What did you have to modify to have the tips stick out the back?

I sent an email to
white Knuckle and asked them to post directions, mainly cause I think it is more fun to get the manufacturer involved. Their directions are very good and if you can do some simple heatshield trimming drill a couple of holes and have a rivot gun it is cake. The tips fit out the stock holes just fine, the trimming is for the thin heatshield under the seat.
Yes i would have very much like to have posted pics of the install because I'd like to see that part of the forum grow. But when I'm up at the cabin time flies and when the family is up with me I gotta try and be a good father and husband :drink: LOL
