Both headers are cracked at the flex pipes. Dealer wants $740.00 for the two!!!!!! Does anyone have experience with this? Options? Buy an aftermarket system? Weld? Used?

Depends on the material I dont know anyone who can easily weld Titanium. Big dollar process as far as I know. The newer ones are titanium as I posted in your other duplicate post.
Are you talking about the pipes from the motor back to the pipe with the flex built in. I have a set off an Apex I think they are the same. I think the collectors and the pipe out the back are different.

You can buy the parts from Port Yamaha for $65.12 each. I did my donuts over the summer, pain to disassemble, but not too bad of a job

Snowarrior, I'm talking about the y pipes, they are 300.00 each you are referring to the flex pipes. I've found some 05 pipes in the classifieds for 150 each now I've found a local scrap guy who has some off the 03 model, should fit and should last longer.

Sorry twiz28, thought you meant the flex ones. Hope you get it squared away. If you were closer, I have a guy here that could weld them. Good Luck.

thanks guys
Installed the y-pipes from the 03, they fit just fine. Cut the heat shields off and installed new gaskets. I used some high heat never seize compound to make the install go a little easier where the y pipes meet the exhaust and everything slid together nicely. You can really notice the difference between the 03 and 05 pipes, I'lll wager very few failures like this happened with the 03. Heavier but should stand up better. Thanks to everyone who replied to this post and the classified. Especially donbarb who phoned me lastnight. With such a great resource and people willing to help the $400-500 bucks I would spend each fall getting the sleds serviced at the dealer now goes into mods as I now do most of the wrenching myself.
