I was at my dealer today looking underneath at the exhasut system of the RX/RS sleds and I have a question.
Does snow, or water enter the engine area from the tunnel where the exhaust exits the "belly" pan into the tunnel? I was able to shine a flashlite up the tunnel above the track and see the light come thru into the engine compartment. It would seem to me if you had to cross a little water or a big puddle the track would shoot water into the small cracks around the exhaust and into the engine compartment.
I may be buying a Venture soon and I am just trying to get all my questions figured out before I plunk down the money!
any input would be appreciated

In 5,000 miles I have never noticed any snow or water entering the engine compartment through the exhaust side.

Holly Molly, now here is a guy who thinks of everything. I also have never had any in thru there either. But I suspect it is because by the time the track gets to this point, there is very little snow to get up and over to this point. Probably have to put the sled upside down to get some in there. Who wants to try this and give a report??

I guess I should have added a little more info to my original post.
My ski doo has over 15,000 miles on it and it has never been on a trailer to get those miles. When snow gets marginal I jump on a lake in front of my house and cross it. This lets me ride into April most years with no problem. But sometimes I will be on two feet of ice with 2-5 inches of water or slush on top of it for miles at a time. My friend has a 03 rx1 which he did some modifications to the exhaust system on and he DID have a problem with water entering the engine area from the tunnel.
I just was not sure if it was from the modifications he did or if it was a normal thing. From the posts I received, I bet it was something he did to his system to let water and snow in.
Smokeless1, I think there is plenty of snow and water still on the track as it gets to the front of the tunnel. If there was not, the front tunnel heat exchanger would be almost useless.
thanks for the input, I am looking foward to riding my new Yamaha

i to ride right off my front lawn on to the lake as well. and we ride late in to the year in water and slush and i have never see a problem with water. even when water skipping. if any water would get in it should run out of the inspetion panel that you remove to change oil.
