Yamaha is not the company it once was with their warranties and there "Extreme Reliability". I have over $1400 in repairs to my '03 suspension and it wasn't caused by a W arm, but poor engineering of other items that did not hold up to the weight of the design and cannot stand up to what I would consider better then average trail conditions. I will state again, Mile for Mile with an '03 F7 and I have had the issues. I believe the fit and finish of the Yamaha is second to none, but I will not give them credit for designing something that can stand up to the varied trail conditions that we have all seen in the past few years.

Before you buy, I would make a statement to Yamaha by asking some tough questions regarding their warranties, support system and dealer service. That is where they appear to be falling down. Get a copy of the warranty before you buy, review what is covered and what is not covered, then ask why. Ask for failure rates and let the reps know that this is becoming a great issue when we do throw down $9k to buy a new sled. If they don't have the answers, then maybe they will next year (read: don't buy until they provide that information) It is stupid to make purchases with out accurate information.

To continually support a flawed support system does nothing to improve the products we love, regardless of the excitement of the new models. Be smart, be diligent and let them know that your money means as much to you as it does to them.

One person cannot make a difference, but 100 or 1000 can. Let your dealers know what you expect and if they cannot deliver, make the best decision you can. This site is a great way to combine our power, So lets use it!!!

I'll agree with you on that. Some folks have had the same problem and the response from different dealers is not the same. Stuff that should be warrantied is not. However I will quit riding before I get a Cat to ride, too many problems even with leaving the sled stock.

My only problem with what you say is that Yamaha doesn't tell you how to ride it either. I don't know how you ride either so it's not fair of me to spout about that.

There's a fine line between riding hard and abusing the machine.

That's why it's important to have a good repore with your dealer.

Myself, I would rather see ultimate performance machines, especially mountain sleds with all the best stuff and sacrifice warranty to get it. I'd take my chances. By having to mod our sleds we invalidate most warranty anyway.

These are, after all, off road toys and can be broken very easily in careless hands in the name of 'fun'.

A dealer in Quebec who sells Yamaha and Arctic Cat said: The Arctic Cat sleds have a ratio of repair of 3 to 1 against the Yamaha's! So imagine how those Cat owner's feel!!! :o| :o|

It was interesting to look at the new sleds in his showroom  What a difference in quality between the Yamaha's and the Craps :? I mean Cats!

I have 4750 miles on my 04 Warrior and it's been the most reliable sled that I have ever owned LaLaLa Still has the original Hyfax on it

Poor engineering? You lost me with that comment. I have owned all 4 brands and ride with guys with all 4 and there is no comparison between them :ORC I do however believe that there are lemons and that's where a good dealer comes into play.

Really, what sled doesn't break down at some point. Anything mechanical is entitled to break, whether we like it or not.

We all must understand that Yamaha is a very conservative company that produces the highest quality machines with the best reliablity in the market today. As mentioned above things do break at some point in time and accessive abuse or misuse will aid in those premature failures. Also must realize that these machines only have so much testing time before they are sent to market. Keep one thing in mind Yamaha is not looking to produce the fastest sled out there like others have tried and had problems doing. They are looking to produce cutting edge technology with performance and RELIABLITY! The Yamaha 4 stroke line-up is light years ahead of all the other manufactures to date. No question there may be a lemon or two but over all Yamaha is the leader in producing the highest quality sleds to date!!
