I currently have 3 sleds, viper, RTX and SXr. I find myself changing hyfax quite often and usually in the middle of the season.
does the EZ-slider tool work or is this just a gimmick? anyone have experience with this tool?

I haven't used that particular one, but I've been using my old auto body slide hammer to change hyfax for about 20 years now. Somebody finally got smart enough to repackage the same tool and mark it up in price with a new name. For this type of occasional use you can buy a cheap slide hammer kit from Harbor Freight tools and other junk tool sellers like that for much less money, plus you'll get more attachments so it can be used for pulling hubs, pulleys, axles, straightening dents, etc if you're into car stuff.
Here's a cheap knock-off in similar size/attachments to what I use:

And here's a little one that might work fine but will take a whole lot more muscle:

I'd recommend the larger of the two.
Or type "slide hammer" into Ebay and shop the REALLY cheap ones...
Just drill a pilot hole in the end of the hyfax, thread in a long screw, grab it with the appropriate slide hammer attachment and pound it out backwards right through a track window. Best to predrill the pilot hole on the new hyfax before you install it...easier to drill 'em off the sled than on the sled. Works every time.

Sorry if I'm hyjacking this thread, but:
Have you guys ever tried just peeling them back through the window? I just use a big flat screwdriver, pound it between the rear end of the hyfax and the rail through the window, and then peel the hyfax down while rotating the track backwards. Once the hyfax is through the window, you can then rotate the track backwards and the hyfax peels right off. Last time I did it with the engine running and in reverse, and it was quick!
No slide hammer required.

The thread link below covers just about every method for both of you guys.
I have the E Z Slider tool and think it is great.
What I do when I install hyfax is to drill 2 little holes in the end of the new hyfax which makes using the tool the next time a snap. Otherwise it can be a pain to get the screw started on that beveled rear edge.

I have the EZ Slider and love it. You can change the Hyfax very quickly and you do not have to worry about damaging your rails with a screwdriver.

I dido what mdkuni says, its a real time saver, especially if your pulling off slides that have been predrilled prior to being installed.
