Feedback on Apex? (I'm selling my 2000 SRX 700)

I'm selling my mint 2000 SRX 700 and looking for my next performance trail sled (short track). I don't want anything slower in the straights than my SRX so that limits me to an APEX, Skidoo Mach Z / 800 XP or 700/800 Polaris. I'm not looking at Cats.

What will I experience on the Apex from my SRX? I'm a little afraid that it's just too heavy.

Anyone have a 05-07 Mach Z and how did you like it?

Thanks....

I made the same jump and I have absolutely no regrets! The low slung SRX did corner like it was on rails, but with a little work you can make the Apex corner almost as well. When the trails get a little bit rough there is absolutely no comparison. The SRX had very little suspension and the Apex sucks up the bumps much better. Unless you get the Apex stuck you won't notice the weight difference. Well worth the upgrade in my opinion!!

I don't think my 06 Apex RTX is any heavier than my 01 SRX was. Plus it's faster, quicker, gets better mileage, has reverse, and always starts! I LOVED my SRX - but to be honest, my Apex is superior in every way.

the SRX was a nice ride in its time...but the apex BLOWS them away in about every category....you will DIE over the plush ride of the MONO shock skid...rides like a damn caddy.

As these previous posts indicate the Apex is a great sled. It is a comfortable ride and has lots of power. Just do some research here first as you do need some upgrades on a stock one before you will be pleased. For example, heavier rear spring on mono shock susp and possible re valve, install rear het exchanger and check anti freeze strength, correct ski darting issues by shimming or installing aftermarket skiis, deal with hand warmer issues as you see fit, watch track rub on rear shock or install anti rub kit, possibly upgrade front end bushings. This is not a bash at all, I absolutely love this sled but just make sure you no what you are up against.
The Mach Z was my initial intent but after reading about the problems with lo pressure fuel pump failures and numerous warnings flashing up on the screen after wot passes and loss of power after WOT due to EGT sensor in the can triggering overtemp to the ECU I decided to go with Yamaha. The 800XP chasis is just too new for me to trust right now. It may be quick and light but I would like to see some more miles on them before I purchase.

just my 2 cents

X2! I just sold my 2000 SRX last November and bought a 07 GT. I have absolutely no regrets about buying this sled whatsoever. It rides awesome has lots of power. My Apex doesn't corner as good as the SRX but I have made some improvements and its alot better. Decent gas mileage, REVERSE, elec. start, I just love this machine.

Ive put on 1500 miles on this sled in one month until the damn snow melted.

You will love this sled. Its a good choice.

The Apex is light years ahead of the Mach in all catergories. Go with the Yami, I am sure plenty of Mach converts can and will back me on this

I have an SRX-700 in my garage and it's a totally different ride when I purchased my Apex GT.
Once you dial in your front shocks and rear suspension, the Apex GT is fantastic.

:4STroke:
past sleds
97 600 sx
97 700sx
98 srx 700
00 srx 700
02 viper 780 piped
04 rx1 le
current sleds
07 apex gt
07 mach zx

all great sleds, but i think with some tweaks the apex will handle as good as the srx, i like the mach handling but apex is far more reliable and good gas is getting harder to find so go 4stroke!!!

SRX vs APEX GT

I agree with all of this only I kept my 2001 SRX cause I have more $$$ into it than I can get. It has the Viper skid with Ohlins and wide front with Viper shocks. I still ride it a lot although the Apex is light years better in every regard. Not sure if the SRX is any slower but it is still fun to ride hard. I can't bring myself to sell the old girl, not yet. It's still got a lot of good riding left in it.
