had 4 apexs in the last few years and I just bought a 2011 apex at a Yamaha dealer in quebec has high kms but not really to worried about it as it was allways serviced and anything it needed was replaced asap!! has 27000 kms just wondering what are some stuff to check maby replace?/ I know susp will get a good go over check clutches and belt prob put new plugs in. wondering what else to look at or check?

wow 27000 on an 11? guy must have lived on it! 3400kms on my 07!
You are right, clutches. How much wear is there on the primary? I would be changing all driveline bearings. How tight is the steering?
Be great to have some feedback of the overall condition of a well used but well maintained machine. Congrats on your purchase!

Yes I never seen it in person yet I'll go and pick it up next month!! And I'm just wondering what issues people had with the 2011s and up it has power steering so pretty pumped to try that out!!

One of my EXUP cables broke while I was checking the exhaust valve operation...there are 2 cables and each of them cost over $50 each. I'd recommend having the Dealer check/synch the EXUP valve before you pick it up. This way, if the Dealer breaks the cable, or if it's broken already, then the Dealer will have to replace the cable at their cost.

That's the little valve in the exhaust correct?? Also I'm not sure what model it is?? Is there just a plain apex?? It dosent say what model it is.. It's a 121 it don't have the fox floats on the front.. I wonder will the fix floats of a 06 fit on it?

I have a base Apex...it has a 128" track. There is no 121". I prefer to stick with traditional shocks...if they blow the seal, then at least the spring will help you ride it home...not so with an air shock, especially the Megafloat shock on the SE.

The old apexs were 121 right?? I didn't know the new one was 128!! How do u like the ride with the shocks on yours?? Is the rear suspension on the 11 any better then the older ones??

not sure on the conversion from miles to kilos but valve adjustment is a high miliage PM that would have to be adressed.

I'm pretty satisfied with the stock shocks on my sled...no problems. Surprisingly, the remote adjuster works smoothly. I've read quite a bit on the cable breaking, but not on mine. I just went through the rear suspension on mine this spring. I took everything apart, installed new bushings from Pioneer (old ones were shot), replaced all bearings (cheapos from China), sanded and painted components, put it all back together and greased it up. All nice and tight again. Ready for a new season.

Previous to 2011, you could purchase an Apex in 121" (STD, GT, RTX), 136" (Attak, LTX) and Mountain version early on. In 2011+ they moved to 128" (STD, SE) and 144" Tip Rail (XTX)

I bought a left over 2011 and have 17,000kms on it in 2 seasons. The exhaust donuts still need attention(they do last longer tho..7,000kms average) as does the exup cables(have replaced both of mine). I have the a arms off now for paint, chroming and to install the oilite bushings and their was no wear in the plastic Yamaha ones(my 2007 at 10,000kms were finished). Swaybar bushings thru the bulkhead are worn as were the upper bushings on the fox float shocks. I have had no issues with the Mega float. No issues with anything else. Clean up the driveline bearings and drive axle bearing, clutches, general service stuff and GO! This 2011 is far better than the my 2007 for durability, servicability(ie: all wheel suspension bearings are serviceable without dropping the skid), general wear and tear seems to be far less.

X2 on the speedo bearing, jackshaft bearing on pto side, and EXUP adjustment. Check those front end bushings in the A arms and if need be, Ulmer's oilites are a nice kit. They call for a valve adjustment on these motors around 40 000kms. Also take note that the clearance to fit studs on the 128" Apex is very minimal, the track pretty much rubs on the tunnel protectors as it is. The XTX has more clearance, so I dropped my tunnel protectors down about 3/8", to make sure the studs don't hit the exhaust.
