2011 xtx
Just bought a new 2011 apex xtx and was wondering on any performance upgrades that actually work, like clutching or gearing to make it quicker off the corners. I don't do any lake racing. Maybe drag race my buddy's f7 once in a while witch I haven't done yet. I do more aggressive trail riding. Don't know what is the best bang for the buck on the 2011 xtx because of the 2011 power increases over the older ones. I have had 2006 and 2008 in the past and ran them all stock. Would really appreciate some input. Thanks

13 mm sway bar
Olins up front
mcx turbo
studs

other than that , a great ride !

I've heard a Power Commander 5 is required if you actually want to see the claimed 161 HP's, other wise is more like 150 HP in stock form as yamaha leaned these sleds out so bad for emissions.

Since you have power steering, you'd really benefit running aggressive skis...much needed imo.

I've got that very sled and love it; I would drive it first before you do any changes as you may be quite surprised in the difference from the older apex models, this thing rips and is awsome in the trails, carves corners like on rails and launches out of corners. sliders suck bad though and you can't go by the old thinking like on the older models that they wear down so far and then don't wear anymore;these sliders melt at will even on decent trails and the other yammies with you have no trouble, hmm! On groomed trails the ski's could be changed to something better. great fuel mileage and fun sled to ride, enjoy your new sled.

X2. This is an intermintant issue that has do due with the knock sensor, and poor fuel quality at times....very finicky. PC-V should fix this issue per A. Ulmer. Should be verified as winter progresses. Brother just bought this from Allen

Ok I will just ride the heck out of it and see how different it is to the old apex. I kid of figured that more carbide or aggressive ski because of the power steering. Whats your thought on a bigger sway bar?

it is bigger 11.7

Let it break in good before you start spending $$$ on clutching. For your riding style you should be more than happy with the way it is.. Play with the suspension settings if you feel the need to suit how you ride. Fuel quality is huge on this motor. A Pc5 will make the last 15% of the throttle useable. Ulmer has good mapping but I ended up adding a tad more after 80%. Did a lot of testing at the end of last season on perfect lake conditions and it's definitely faster on the top with a Pc5. Oh yeah, it will burn more gas to. Don't be alarmed by the speed you see on the speedo, the 11's are way more accurate than the old one. I passed my buds 06 GT @ 190kmph and his was reading 207kph.

The powercommader fixes the cold start problems on the '11 apex. Started properly in minus 20 weather and even pulling it on a trailer in almost -30c temps for 30 miles it started like it just came out of a warm shop. Excellent! Not to mention it pulls like a damn once a guy finally gets going on the 6" of loose stuff

I geared mine down two teeth.from 23 t to 21 t.rockett on snow;-)

What RPM do you now need to get going? I must give mine close to 4000 RPMs before it takes off, does anyone have any thoughts whether I should gear down or change the clutching?

I`m not that interested in top speed, response and action on low rpm is more appreciated.
