Well after weeks of agonizing driving hundreds of miles to demo rides I finally bought a 09 xtx with 2600 miles.
Fortunatly I found this site and new all of the things to look for when I got there to look at it. I bought it at a dealer in NJ and the salesman said its clean and ready to ride, I get there all stoked to buy this thing the parts guy is behind the counter proudly stating man that things a "cream puff"
And now as Paul Harvey would say ' and the rest of the story" I walk up to this thing I can see the hyfax are spanked, ok no big deal I wanted the excell wheel kit anyway. So I walk around the front and I see a 1/2 thick plate welded to the bumper like this thing is somekind of push truck at a dirt track race, quick glance at the upper a-arm and you can see its bent and the sub frame, bent is not even a word to describe it. I know from reading you guys talk about the skis being about 1/2" different, when you look at the skis they must be offset from one another by 2 INCHES (no kidding). This whole time the sales guy is standing there like ok ready to go sign the papers! Well to make and already long story a little shorter after some serious renegotiation, I was able to get it for a song. The owner of the place was so pissed because no one had ever looked at the sled when they traded it. Other than the front end being what it is the rest of the sled is in great shape.
I just wanted to give everybody who posted up all their testimonials, issues and concerns with these sleds a huge THANK YOU, you sure help educate me and I am sure countless others.
Hopefully when I get this thing fixed up I will meet up with some of you guys on the trail.

I going to fix everything. I wanted to do a bunch of mods anyways, so this helps convince my wife of exactly why!
Thanks for the welcome!

Make sure you install the grizztracks gusset kit before you install the new sub frame!

Yep that along with a roest skid plate! Are on the list just below the sub frame. Ihe spindles have alot of play at the ball joint, and ski mounting point so I am weighing out to attempt to straighten them out and tighten them up or just go with the z broz front end. I wonder if they sell the kit unfinished? Since I work with Harley Davidsons for a living I was thinking about chroming them? I did it on a set of trailing arms on my polaris race sleds, it looked sweet and held up unbelievable. Its going to be a long and expensive off season. He He!

I pretty sure z bros sell them natural unpainted.

Sweet a fix-er-up-er I love it. It's nice to have room in the budget for the after market stuff!!
I'll second grizztracks plates, I pulled my subframe and had them welded in.
